Tell me about Don's Gun's in Indy
I have visited and purchased from ACME, Whitaker's (Owensboro KY), Elmores, Strictly Shooting, etc... but have never stepped foot into Dons.
What's the skinny?
Overpriced everything, a hangout for less than desirable characters and the front man (Don) is actually a anti-gun douche nozzle. These are the good points about Don and the shop. Horror stories abound.
Don't waste your time even going there to look around.

Avoid.
Mmmmmm-k?
Unless you ae a 21 year old female from just this side of Chicago looking to purchase five identical Glock Fortays with cash while your cousin waits in the parking lot. Then Don's guns is your destination of choice.

Thanks
I had heard a little of this in the past but figured where better to hear it than ARFCOM.
Off to ACME I go!
Calling don a douchebag is an insult to douchebags.
Don't waste your time going there.

@$850 each...
Kevlar would be a perk to wear to just browse in there They're right calling Don a douchebag is an insult to douchebags. The guy as about as dirty as a person can get and just greasy enough to slip through the cracks. To say its a hang out for undesireables... is an understatement. I think they toss in a ski mask with every .25 cal for an extra 5 bucks. At least it wouldn't surprise me.
If you head down to Acme say hi to Clint.
FUCK Don.
I wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire.
They suck in most ways but are still a better range choice than those arrogant bitch's at pop guns,Indy needs a good indoor range

Beech Grove still has plans to open one.

Indy Trading Post should be opening any day now, although it will be handgun only, maybe .22 rifle. Looks like it will be nice.

details?
2851 Madison Ave (just south of Southern Ave). The range is 5 lanes and I know the guys are working on or planning to expand hours soon as well. They have some more recent pictures on Facebook if you search Indy Trading Post but they also have a website, http://www.indytradingpost.com they are also on INGO and have a section on there.

I'd shoot there before pops, beechgrove, or dons. I just hope its a little more affordable. Any idea what their price would be for a range session will be?

They were running a pre buy special for 10 1/2hour sessions for $50, not sure how long that will be going on or what the rate will be after that.
It's very difficult to find a place to shoot. I live in the Hamilton County area, we don't have squat. You have the Atlanta Conservation Club which doesn't allow those that don't play in their IDPA stuff to belong, then we have the Hamilton County Fish and Game which is a little better, but you have to participate in some work for the range. That doesn't work well for those of us that have to work weekends.
Maybe I need to open an indoor range in Hamilton County, hmmmmmmmmmmm.

"Shoot or help in 2 Events - Before approval, but after applying for membership, attending and helping or shooting in at least two ACC events, under the supervision of a Match Director, is required. "
That's not much of a hurdle.....
The CC i belong to has work party rules, however they allow for people who work on weekends to put in time when they can. We keep a list of things to do on our website, and some tasks can be done before or after a range visit.
ITP range officially opens today
I agree that it's not that much of a hurdle, but unfortunately I work all weekends

I hope their feedback on
ebay and
gunbroker is not an indication on how they do business

Have you tried just talking to some of the members and explaining the situation? They are pretty laid back and understanding up there. But if you're eilling to lend a hand, be responsible, and participate in club activities I'm sure youll find that it's not too bad of a deal. Even when I lived in Johnson County I'd still drive all the way up there to shoot.

I know a lot of the guys who shoot at Atlanta. I'm sure they would work something out with you. Send me a PM if you want me to put you in contact with someone.
I only go to Elmore's anymore. Great place. Don's is not worth it.
It is overpriced and very ghetto. Alot of what I saw when I was there was shit. If you are close enough Harders outside of shoals is the best i've been too. He is a good man and will do anything for you.
He's a criminal. I would compare him to Hamas.

^ Ditto. Located in Hamilton Co. also and I would like a place to shoot everything (from .22 through .44mag up to 7.62mm and beyond). I don't mind paying to play, but what I don't have is a lot of
time.
Volunteering or working at the range is just out of the question for me - unless it's 5-10min away. If I'm going to give up
that much time - I'll just become a reserve deputy, then have access to a whole new world of things, including a range.
