Sautrday.
Not soon after walking in the door and picking up a flier someone who presented himself as the manager said it was against the law to have the gun in the store or the parking lot and asked me to leave. I have been in this store numerous times and I don't recall ever seeing this person (not that is really matters). Not posted on the door btw.

The person's name was Derek - Store number 3245.
7645 150th Street West
Apple Valley, MN 55124
(952) 432-9200

Here is what I got from the corp hq this morning after sending them an email

O'Reilly Auto Parts forbids the carry or possession of a firearm in our
stores and in compliance with Minnesota state law request customers refrain
from bringing firearms in when doing business. We hope our store manager
approached and advised you of this policy in a polite and courteous manner
and apologize if this was not the case. You are certainly welcome in our
stores we just request you do not bring your gun in with you. We truly
appreciate your business and it is our sincere hope you will continue to
choose O'Reilly Auto Parts for your future automotive needs. If we may be
of any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact us. Your

Here is what I sent them:

You have chosen to ban firearms in your store and that is your right. As such, I have chosen to take my gun, and my money, to your competitors until such time as you choose to allow law-abiding armed citizens in your establishment. As this is your policy I will be adding your store to the registry of business that does not want the patronage of the 96,000 citizens of the state of Minnesota that are legally allowed to carry a firearm.

Citizens are legally allowed to carry firearms openly or concealed (with a valid license) to protect themselves and their families in case someone else threatens to harm them. As a Citizen with a concealed handgun license,
• We have no felony convictions.
• We have never been convicted of domestic violence.
• We have no history of mental illness or drug addiction.
• We have passed a background check and have fingerprints on file with the Authorities.
• We have passed mandatory training in both the use of a firearm and the applicable law.

Can you say that about your other customers?

By prohibiting all weapons, you have disarmed and made helpless anyone who enters your store—except for criminals, who won’t follow your policy anyway. In essence, you’ve made your store more dangerous for patrons who carry legally...and safer for criminals.

Please consider changing your policy. There may come a time when an armed, law-abiding citizen stands between you and an armed criminal.

I like this. May I use this when contacting other businesses? Thank you.

I never have been fingerprinted for my carry permit. I don't believe that is a requirement for a carry permit either in MN.

It was a requirement for Utah, which I got at the same time as MN.

Not posted.

I was thinking Utah about the ten card.

I was driving my M109A3 (deuce) and did not want to leave my camera bag in the car. The bag pulled my shirt up a little exposing it. But I have been shopping there for years and most of the staff know I carry as we have had great conversations about rights to carry. Never had a problem there before.

If it was not posted, then Derek is wrong, it is not against the law for a MN P2C permit to carry a firearm in the store. It may be against company policy, but it is not unlawful. Neither is it unlawful if you carry, are personnally informed of the policy and asked to leave, and do then leave.

If you didn't leave, it would be a misdemeanor with a fine not to exceed $25.00.

I don't shop O'Reily because their prices suck. But now I have a second reason to not shop there.

It's NOT against the law, It's just against a stupid store policy.

I sent him an email too.

Oh I knew it was not against the law but that was not the place to educate the fool.

Banning them in the parking lot is against the law in MN, though.

From 2005 c. 83:
c) The owner or operator of a private establishment may
not prohibit the lawful carry or possession of firearms in a
parking facility or parking area.

I sent in an email and got the exact same response back. I should send something back saying that they don't have my business anymore!

Go to Napa, they are usually locally owned and operated. O'reilly hires like Walmart and your money goes way out of town. That's how it is here anyway.
