Here is the email I sent my state senator feel free to copy and make the needed changes:
Dear Representative XXXXXXX,
Thank you for your service to District XXX and all of Minnesota.
I write to you to ask that you support and work to pass HF 1467 which is back to the house for a concurrence vote after the Senate passed the companion bill SF 1357.
As you know “Mayor Mary” of Apple Valley refused to sign a pledge to not confiscate firearms during an emergency. HF 1467 would codify into MN law Emergency Powers Reform offering protections for firearms owners when they need their arms the most.
In addition, the Department of Public Safety is derelict in their obligations to seek out reciprocity for the MN Permit to Carry a Pistol. HF 1467 will put into place Universal Recognition of other states’ permits and improve lawful carry abilities for Minnesotans in other states.
Lastly, HF 1467 restores the human right of self-defense by eliminating the false doctrine of “duty to retreat” from an attack, allowing law-abiding citizens to stand their ground anywhere they are lawfully present. Importantly HF 1467 provides protections for those who were forced to stand their ground against criminal prosecution and civil lawsuits.
As your constituent I urge you to support, and work to pass, HF 1467 in the Minnesota State House.
Sincerely,
_________________________________________________________________________

If this one fails, maybe can we get a supressor bill passed?

Got this response:
Craig,
Good to hear from you. I would be happy to support this legislation. Please send your letter of support to the Governor as I suspect he will be our problem.
Take care,

I thought the sponsor of the bill was a Chief and there were a few other Chiefs that supported the bill including at least the Mankato chief.
A MEN its about time we get our freedom as the second amendments intended it... FOR THE CITIZENS!!!!

cornish is the sponsor of this bill and he is a police chief, but the police federation or whatever and the district attorney's association or whatever they are called, do not support this, i think this is where Dayton gets his guidance from...

One would think the Governor would listen to
We The People of Minnesota, rather than a self-congratulating group of ass kissing bureaucrats.
Does the NRA have this mislabeled as HF1467? I thought it was in the state senate right now as SF 1357.
On another note, I've contacted my state Senator. I would give my Representative a call but I'm pretty sure I know where Rep. Cornish stands on this subject. Go district 24B!

Minnesota: NRA-Backed Self-Defense Reform Bill Passes
in the State Senate
Today, the Minnesota Senate passed House Bill 1467 by a 40 to 23 vote. This important reform legislation, sponsored by state Senator Gretchen Hoffman (R-10) and state Representative Tony Cornish (R-24B), will now be sent back to the state House of Representatives for its concurrence, before being sent to Governor Mark Dayton for his consideration. The House vote on concurrence is expected to take place this Monday, February 27.
Accordingly, please contact your state Representative TODAY and urge him or her to vote to pass HB 1467 as amended in the state Senate.
To locate your state Representative and his or her contact information, please click here.
Thank you to those state Senators who voted to pass this important self-defense reform legislation.
So what was changed?
It looks like the bill was so old they had to amend the dates... Those are the only changes I can see.
Well done friends, many thanks to all who contacted their senator.
Contact your state representative and remind them to vote on HF 1467 in concurrence with the Senate.
Then let's see how quickly the Governor vetoes the bill.
Feel free to contact the Governor, too, and let him know you expect him to sign the bill!
With a vote of 40 to 23 no less!
However, the fight's not over. It still needs to get through the Representatives for its concurrence. Then... on to Dayton.

Done. Hopefully there are enough voices to get him to consider signing this if it gets to him.
I'm afraid d-bag is going to veto it anyway.

Alright. All rainbows and puppies from now on when it comes to matters around the fearless leader of the state.
I contacted the Governor earlier this week. I have not heard back from him or any of the senators that contacted, and I emailed a bunch of them including some of the democrats. The more that speak up the better.
On MPR this morning they were ranting about "Blood in the streets" again, but all seemed to indicate the perception that Dayton would sign the bill.

Apparently they have never looked at the actual Justice Dept statistics for the last 10 years.
Violent crime is down, gun ownership is up. Kind of shoots the argument down. (pun intended)
But then again, socialists never worry about fact n' shit.
It was the same old tired arguments. Funny, two of the guests were actually like "well, I personally don't like guns but, um, well, my daughter is going to school in Philadelphia, and, um, well, I would have a hard time telling her not to have one to protect herself..."
I think there are a lot of liberals out there that secretly want to own guns but would never say it out loud for fear of getting kicked out of the Rainbow Sticker Obama Unicorn Peace and Love Club.
When I was an instructor at Bill's, there were a surprising amount of liberal CCW holders that came to my classes. The Rake magazine even did a moderately pro-carry story on some of us.
I heard the MPR discussion this morning also. I try to be open minded that MPR is nor one sided but today made me mad. There was no one on their "round table" that had any facts. At the end, they even joked about shooting people if they had a gun.
From MPR:
Dayton told the House author he would wait the full three days before acting on the bill, once it lands on his desk.
"I went to the funeral of a courageous police officer in Lake City just a couple of weeks ago, Shawn Schneider — and his widow and three children," Schneider [sic] said. "I don't want to do that again, and I don't want to do anything that they believe based on their considerable experience is going to put their lives at greater risk."
Schneider died after he was shot responding to a domestic dispute call.
I live in Lake City. Relating Officer Schneider's death to the opposition to this bill is complete and utter crap. A pretty good number of our community are in support of arming ourselves after this incident.

What are the details of the Lake City shooting?

Apparently according to gallop they are growing faster than new Republicans
The real question is do we have 90 votes in the house and senate if Dayton Vetos?
What are the details of the Lake City shooting?
Kid breaks up with girlfriend on Friday.
Monday morning, comes to LC and has discussion with girl.
Girl calls friend, who calls the police.
Officer Schneider comes, gets girl out of house.
Kid takes a shot or two at girl, hits Officer instead.
Standoff ensues, Kid takes his own life at some point during the day.
Officer Schneider dies two weeks or so later from complications.
That's the jist. The kid was from Wisconsin, in his 20's, and the girl was 17. He had a borrowed handgun.
Basically, this bill wouldn't have had any impact on that situation if it were in place at the time of this incident.
the guests on MPR were trying to portray this bill as some sort of "License to kill" which it is clearly not. Same arguments they used and failed to try and get Shall issue CCW to fail. Let's hope this bodes well for our state moving forward!

It's the only argument they have because they don't bother to actually do any research and look into the issue. Some people will always hate guns not matter what. At least some of the crazy libs are warming up to guns.
