I was out on a date night with the wife last night at Danbarry Cinemas on Turfway rd in Florence, KY
At the time I wasnt carrying my pistol but I noticed a sign on their front window.
I took a pic of it but I can find the cord to install it on my computer/the web..

This is what it reads:

NOTICE
[It is illegal to carry a firearm, deadly weapon, or dangerous ordnance anywhere on these premises.
Unless otherwise authorized by law. No person shall knowingly possess, have under the person's control, convey, or attempt to convey a deadly weapon or dangerous ordnance onto these premises.
"Posted Pursuit to the Ohio Revised Code"]

uh.. Its my understanding that I live in KY & live under KY law NOT Ohio law. So why in the world are they putting an OHIO law on their front window?!?!?
I was going to talk to the manager but I figured I'd do it later.

Perhaps the parent or regional corporate office is Ohio based and was sent out in bulk with instructions to put on display at all locations.

Of course had you been carrying it still meant nothing.

Still.. isnt it an illegal sign..?

Edit: I sent an Email to KC3 about it too.

The sign isn't illegal but it also doesn't have the force of law backing it. If they see you carrying they can tell you to leave and that's it.

It would be interesting to ask the manager what law you would be violating since the sign states it is "illegal". He or she might get an education trying to prove a point.

The idea is to scare people. That is, they hope to BS people into submission. However, there is a significant issue with their approach. They assume that whose who carry are as dumb and blind as the other sheople in society. Such is not the case. We know we can carry and will.

Just go to church and pray that those evil people burn.

This stuff happens a lot in northern VA, and people buy into. I just got into an argument with a friend who was told that with her CCW permit, the law says her gun had to be in the trunk where she can’t get to it when she’s driving. I also repeatedly got into arguments with management who told me carrying a firearm is illegal. This happened at several Wal-Marts, McDonalds and even Chuck-e-Cheese. Several even called the police who always told them I'm not doing anything illegal. My favorite, every ones got a relative that’s a cop or lawyer and they know the law through osmosis.

I would contact the company’s corporate office and complain. I did that with Wal-Mart and was apologized too and told that they did not have any policies that reflect what the manager told me.

I think that this is just one of the methods of antigun organizations. Misinform people so that they don’t even try to be legit gun owners. You’d be surprised how many people believe that guns are just straight up illegal around big cities.

Call their bluff. Tell them that it is a felony to post a sign illegally.

Good point, usually those signs have to say regarless of issued permits or something along those lines.
