Shooter's Supply & Law Enforcement Equipment Company in Louisville

Anyone have any reviews of Shooter's Supply & Law Enforcement Equipment Company in Louisville? I'm going to be passing through Louisville & was thinking about picking up a pistol there.

Also, is there any laws against a Missouri resident purchasing a handgun in Kentucky? I know a KY resident can legally purchase in MO, I was just wondering if that was reciprocated? Missouri state law only requires the standard NICS background check for a handgun purchase.

No you can't purchase a handgun in ky without a ky ID unless you have them ship it to you ffl in MO.

It's a nice place to visit, but while as an inexperienced novice years ago I did purchase a couple guns there, I've since learned that Shooters Supply has horrible prices. Go there and browse, but definitely don't buy. Buds Gun Shop in Lexington is a LOT CHEAPER and they have a website for convenient ordering. And I agree with the last poster; skip is absolutely horrible. Skip is a reallll douche-bag.... if you go into the Kentucky hometown archieves you'll find entire threads about how much we (where "we" is about 90% of ARFCOM'ers) dislike skip. If you are going to be in Louisville, I suggest you stop-by Knob Creek if it's not still flooded.

Also, I don't know for sure but I don't THINK you can buy a gun here. Again, I don't KNOW, I just THINK you can't.

There are better places to buy a pistol than Shooters Supply. High prices and several smart a$$ staff members.

No. You cannot buy a handgun in Kentucky and take it with you. You can have it shipped to an FFL in your home state. Good luck at Shooter's Supply; you'd be better of going to Lotus Gunworks about five miles east, IMO.

Oakwood shafted me on a 2 rifle transfer a year ago or so.

The price basically doubled and he charged me tax on the value of the rifles.

He got an extra $40 or so from me and lost a lifetimes worth of business from me and my family. Sucks cause they are essentially a minute away, but the last minute switcheroo once the rifles had been shipped and received at his shop was bad business after we had previously agreed to a different price. He said too bad, pay or pay to have them shipped back.

I'd try Lotus Gun works. They have cans, good selection of ammo, from high end carry ammo to mil surp x54r in spam cans, and a pretty relaxed atmosphere.

111 Guns is nice on prices for used guns. They have a nice selection of handguns and are VERY friendly and helpful.

I've mainly used him for gun repair, never thought about transfers. What's his rate?

For transfers I use Bluegrass Indoor Range. $20.

111 is 15$ for transfers.
I'd never pay over 20.

Yup, and as for skip I seen he conned some guy into teaching him how to shoot at Knob Creek. I wonder how much that guy paid....

He tried that crap on me... skip described his lessons as, amongst other things, "apocoliptic" (spelling). He was refering to the original greek meaning of the word (revealing) rather than our modern definition (end of the world).

Yup, avoid Shooters unless you have to have something fairly high end right now and are a badass haggler.

If you want something high-end RIGHT NOW in the 'Ville, go to Lotus instead.

100% correct; I've bought 2 guns from Lotus and got decent prices with little to no haggle.

When I went to Lotus, they didn't know you could buy AR-15 Uppers seperately. I'll pass.

His rates are good. Scott is a good guy. I try to give him all of my business. In return, he offered to let me use his shop/tools to change a rail. A really nice guy.

I've gotten all my AR lowers through Lotus. They've never given me any flak about it and they've always been professional.

Thats funny. Skip said that very thing to me once, almost word for word, I just stared at him with a bemused smile on my face.

I will say one thing for him. He really demonstrated the virues of Daniel Defense uppers for me.

Keens Depot in Bardstown is my Favorite right now, then Knob Creek, It all depends on if I am going to shoot or just look/buy something

Yeah I like Keene's Depot. Good class 3 guy. When i go get my silencer AAC M42000 it's where I am going to go. I talked to him on the phone, real nice guy. However I think someone here had a problem with what he did but he cleared things up or at least I think he did.

It was a charity thing that the owner was suppose to do. It was actually in another thread on the Ky forums, it was a couple months back.

I was looking around for an FN SCAR17S and Knob Creek was $200.00 cheaper than everyone else in town. I'll give my money to Kenny any day of the week.

If I could afford it, I would have a billboard put up on every x-way in Louisville to steer people away from $hooters.

Firearms Service Center- Bardstown Rd, with the archery store on the side...they are on the 'bad' list too. Watched one of their guys rob a little old lady about 2 years ago. I saw she had a mint S&W lemon squeezer .38. I meandered over to hear the conversation- she was having to move into an old-folks home, and they wouldn't let her have a gun. This gun, she says has been in her nightstand drawer for 40+ years, her husband buying it new for her. He began telling her how much money he was going to have to put into it, completely disassembling it to clean it, etc. and said it was worth NO MORE than $150.00.
When she agreed, he went to complete the thievery...I told her how nice it was and that it was worth a lot more. I wish I had been more aggressive about it; she sold it to him. I felt sick to my stomach when I left.

I have been spending a lot of money at Lotus lately. They have a good crew over there.

Few weeks ago I was looking at the Judge Public Defender and stopped in at Lotus. $509 + tax. Gun Warehouse in Lexington $364 + tax. Showed the guy at Lotus the price on Bud's Website and they wouldn't come down off their price so I drove to Lexington and saved the $$$$.

I was looking for an AK M4 type stock around Christmas. 111 Gun shop was $39.99 and Lotus was $59.99.

Very nice store and the help is nice, but there prices are real close to Shooters. I personally haven't seen any deals at Lotus.

I was at Keene's yesterday and when he has a "Sale" he will have good deals, but day to day I still think Buds, Jet Guns, Whittakers or Sherwoods would beat them also.
