Not much to do that I know of in Wolfe County, other than shoot on your 95 acres. The closest large town, Winchester, is a good 45 minute drive up the Mountain Parkway. It's beautiful country in that part of the state.
off to the Morehead area this weekend (previous realtor flaked completely).
This one wants to show me a 300 acre property that will be available for $500/acre.
Anywhere in that area that wouldn't be worth that price?
I think there is a lot of nice looking country in the Morehead area but I am not overly familiar with the market up there. Other than the college causing the rent to be on the high side in town.
If you end up getting a place in Morehead you should come down to one of the Kentucky Training Group meet ups. The farm we usually shoot on is only about 45 minutes from Morehead.

I live in Jackson about 15 min. from Campton the county seat of Wolfe Co. It is an ok area except for the drug use; and the fact that you would be over an hour away from decent medical attention i.e. Lexington. I was born and raised in Breathitt Co but would not recommend this area to anyone. If i could afford it i would be moving but land is cheap unfortunately resulting in cheap paying jobs unless you are willing to drive to Lexington or work in the coal mines or deal drugs. Just my two cents. If i could find something in Morehead or closer to Lexington at a cheaper price I would jump on it.
Drug use and property crime is bad all over easter Ky.
You can get to level 1 truama centers via Life Flight with in an hour.
If they will fly you out. lots of times they will give you some excuse for not wanting to fly i ihave experienced this several times working with local Sheriffs office. Also another issue is if you do go to a local DR. unless it is something very simple they will refer you to some doc in Lexington and you have to drive 2 hours to Lexington,. My family was the 1st to settle my part of Breathitt Co(SW Part) so we have been here forever and yes the area has its ups but in my opinion the logistics and other issues make it a less than desirable area.

Just a suggestion but i would look into buying some land with a natural gas well, not an oil well converted over. you can get generators that run off natural gas and youd be getting near free electricity,
