plate carrier/vest/BA?
Hey guys I'm starting to get into reading about body armor and I know I have seen posts about this a while ago, but what is the deal with getting it in CT?.....I kinda think I know but I'm not positive so I figured I'd ask. Do any of you use plate carriers without having the plates....(if we cant have em) to carry mags, etc.? Do you think there good to have like if shtf, or would a belt or regular tactical vest be better?
I just started thinking about the fact that I have all these mags and if I had to go on the move I would have to throw them in a backpack I guess....
But would I ever use it? I think I'd feel like I'd be "that guy" if I showed up to a range wearing one lol.
The other thing is if plates are ok....would there really be a point in getting them or would they just sit there?
If you guys have plates or vests or stuff like that...does it get use, or do you regret buying the stuff?
Armor (Hard or Soft) for a Civi in CT is a NO GO, the carrier being used as a battle vest while scary looking to the sheep is fine.

oh ok now that thats answered are they recommended or are regular vests better?
and I know it is unlikely, but could it cause problems having a plate carrier and getting questioned by LEO; like if you have plates, or are they at home, why do you need a plate carrier, etc?
and thanks for the response!
from what i understand, armor is GO in CT, as long as you dont buy it and get it shipped to CT or buy it within CT.....

Correct, any armor purchases by non-felon civilians must be made in person.
Details about the law are here:

Got it
SOO in other words its not illegal to get, it's just damn near impossible to get
If someone in the state has it, why would they want to part with it?? lol
Depending on the design, some plate carriers will sag without a plate inside.
Although it IS perfectly legal for a civilian non-felon to own body armore in CT, the face to face sale requirement does make it a bit of a PITA to get stuff.
If you are not going to use plates, there are a tremendous amount of chest rigs out there both complicated and simple. I have a metric shitload of gear and I'd be happy to post some pics of some choices and manufactuers for you

Yea that'd be cool, thanks man!
I like the look of the banshee pc.....but this type of stuff is all new to me so I dont know quality, etc.
And vests and all the tactical gear type stuff is confusing as hell....there are so many differences I have no idea where to begin.

Maybe he just consulted here instead

My offer still stands...
Dan the only reason I posted that it was NOGO was because I actually had in writing from an attorney that this shit was bad juju for a civi, other wise I would have drunken a large glass of STFU and not said word one but then andrapos posted clarification from the State that countered what my lawyer advised. As such I saved a copy of his posted letter and after the first couple of rifles are done that will be my next big money expenditure. Course getting my hands on Plates and soft armor for a face to face transaction might be a bit miore challenging....
Second thought, since it is legal could I not simply walk into a police supply store produce my WCP thus proving I am NOT a prohibited person and just walk out with or order and then walk out later with my desired armor????
ETA: for spelling errors

As long as it isn't like the supply store in Manchester on Hilliard St which refuses to sell to civilians.
If you ever go out of state on vacation you could possibly buy online and have it shipped to your hotel

Or you could just get a P.O. box over the border in springfield for a month.
So I'm guessing you don't need to "prove" where you got it and that it was a face to face sale?

Doesn't seem like it, and per our last discussion on this, no such thing as a "straw purchase" of body armor as long as it's not going to a prohibited person... so I say again... offer still stands.
