ok while back here in CT we set of some tannerite that ended with the fire dept and cops showing up. ever since then my friends are extra paranoid of the stuff and the guy who has 50 acers in VT that we shoot at is afraid to use it up there. i'm looking for some guidance on what i would need to follow as far as noise ordinances or any of the local stuff that differs from here to VT.
i don't plan on setting off a 200lb barrel of the stuff but a few pounds at a time in the after noon but nothing that i would see as excessive or all day long.

anyone from VT use the stuff a lot or mix your own?

Not sure. I should have clarified that you may have to pay attention to some village ordinances, but if your friend has 50 acres you are probably out of town.

I have never had anyone show up for shooting or "big bangs" and I dont know of anyone that has except for in deer season you might have a guy in green poking arund.

I called my town hall and spoke to both zoning and the town clerk. Both assured me there were local laws regarding noise. Obviously at some hours of the night, if they felt the need, they would most likely cite you with disorderly conduct or breach of peace.

Explosives on the other hand....I wouldn't know how to go about asking the women in town hall about

After setting off a ten-fer on his large acreage, a friend of mine triggered emergency services in 4 southeastern NH towns. A large propane tank explosion was feared. When the cops showed up they were cool and merely asked that he give them a heads-up when he did it in the future...so they could come watch.

Was at an all day "family shoot" this past fall at a friends place in NH, all he did was notify the local PD about it and no real problems. They did still show up but that was only because someone called in a complaint. Even though they knew who it was doing the shooting, they were still required to go to the scene and check it out. We set off 6 large cans of tannerite at the end of the day. Holy shit. Thats all I got to say about that.

i just plan to notify the local and State PD that are in the area, where we are going to be, my phone number and invite them over if they want to shoot a few rounds as well.
last year the State PD had a response time of 2 to 6 weeks we think because when the land owner went back there was a State PD card stuck in his door. guess the neighbor called them because we shot off fireworks one night and we had a "machine gun" as well. didn't have one that time, just some good trigger work and an AK-74
we'll see how it goes this year.

My buddy in Maine had his neighbors tell him "We don't mind th gunfire but the explosions worry us" LOL Tannerite for the win!
