Sorry to hear that. The price of vet care has gotten real bad, almost like going to the hospital yourself.

Pretty sure you can get pet insurance now for health.

Your pain is felt over here.

$3500 bill for surgery on our golden retriever, torn ACL . . . . . 4 weeks before christmas.

The worst part is she must be directly supervised for 3-4 months, no stairs for at least 6. If she tries to use it just once she'll fuck it all up.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Our white female has 2 partially torn ACLs and one luxating patella I don't have 8 grand to dump into her so she will live with it. Nothing but a money pit, that one, she has cost over $2k in emergency vet bills over the past 2 years because she can't control her temper. It's what I get for rescuing her

Toy pinchers do not have good or strong legs, they break real easy-
you will eventually pay for this again

Crap! My buddy LG! Jeez man, sorry.

Another vote for mutts, hybrids don't show latent genetic issues.

She is tiny tho, I can see it happening easily.

My buddy down the street has a pit-lab mix $3000 for 3 operations to remove a cancerous tumor in his foot. Finally got it the 3rd time. Dog is 10 yrs old, he never flinched when writing the checks. It's like a child.

My brotherinlaw spent 800 on a pure bread Angora cat (first mistake), It developed sinus issues, duh with the face pushed in like they have, and kidney infections. Another $1200 later, dead cat. Fucking thing wasn't even cute...

I got a rescue mutt, lab border collie mix, never been sick, healthy as ever at 8 yrs old, Feed her Pedigree in a 25 pound bag, Damn dog has NEVER crapped or pissed in the house. I wish I could clone her I'd be a bazzilionaire.

You guys are making me nervous about getting a dog.

You'll be alright, you want a Rhody which is the canine equivalent of the honeybadger. They fight lions, for God's sake! They don't give a shit!

My sister in law is bringing over her new cannine windup toy tonight. I hope my homeowners insurance covers me if it hurts itself.

It definitely has a lot to do with the dog. Ours is a pure bred golden retriever, inherently bad hips and knees, her arthritis has been showing for a few years now... Most loyal dog I've ever seen though, and we've owned a german shepard!

Ours is $500 a year. It has paid for itself many times over. Our dog is very healthy as a result of it. His previous owner ignored him, and our insurance paid for a lot of work on obviously existing conditions caused by her stupidity and neglect.

A dog is a commitment. Do not enter into it lightly.
