So Vermont has some of the best gun laws in the nation

But are Vermonters really pro-2nd Amendment or are they just apathetic to the loose gun laws?

Vermont is an enigma wrapped up in a conundrum. On the one hand they have no permit/license system but rail against silencers. They hire uber liberal politicians who tax them to death but covet their right to bear arms including machineguns. I don't live there but have spent enough time there as a New Englander over the past 50 years to say that I have a hard time really figuring out how all that mixes together and stays in solution. Apathy? Not hardly. If it were, a savvy anti-gunner politician would have ransacked that whole issue bringing them more in alignment with Illinois. So that seems to say that Vermonters want it this way, period. They actually encourage open carry so just because of that you've got to respect their life-style and their true preservation of the 2nd amendment unlike all but one or two other states in the country. Go figure!

Here in CT we, too, have uber liberal politicians but convoluted regulations that perplex even the smartest people on the forum. Would it be that maybe what’s in the water up there might infect our legislators. Must be in the syrup!

Rome

(PS No Vermonters were harmed during while the previous opinion was being typed.)

As liberal as Vermont is getting I really don't think their gun laws will hold out in the long run. I originally planned to move to Vermont instead of NH, but changed my mind because of that. I didn't want to make the move to VT, then the next thing you know, it will be like living in MA in another 10 years.

Like most places, I don't think most of VT votes, at least not the hundreds of them I work with. They all take it for granted that "nobody is dumb enough to touch our guns".

Guns just aren't an issue here. Gun related crime is very few and far between and I think that has a lot to do with it.

It's because all those fuckers from Mass move up here and try to change the state into something they just moved away from.

Dude, shoot me a text when you get a chance, I'm looking to go to the range sometime next week, if you're up for it.

Exactly. Unfortunately, gun loving migrants are still outnumbered by the complete fucking morons moving out of the city. I never understood the mentality of wanting to live someplace because you love it so much, then doing everything humanly possible to turn it into the shithole you left. I live on a dirt road and have had 2 different whiny city familys move into the house at the end. They didnt stay long

The small town I grew up in out in W. MA had a story in a Boston newspaper one time. Over 80% of all eligable adults (18+) had their LTC's in town. Now, my parents have neighbors who moved from NYC on each side of them.

I broke the first one in right. I walked into my parents' backyard and bump fired a 30 round mag from my AK. They keep to themselves still and it's been about 15 years.

I think they don't know any better. They love the peace and quiet, the open space, the privacy, the fresh air when they arrive.
But they've always known streetlights and public transportation and the conveniences, and accompanying mindset of the city... Therefore, they think they neeed them here.

my 2 cents

Lots of hunters here and no one rails against silencers. Its an old fish and game law against poaching.

I have been looking to move to Vermont and have been doing my research so all you Vermonter's can jump on me if I'm wrong, but isn't there a amendment in your state constitution that prohibits firearm laws from being enacted?
