Just a quick question on Prebans in CT

I have been reading for a couple of hours and think I know the answer, but wanted to ask the locals a question. I am in the process of selling a preban AR to someone in Connecticut. It looks to me like this is fine, but I don't want to end up with a felony because I didn't see something. It will be transfered in through an FFL. Also, it looks like there is no restriction on mags. Am I right on this? The State of Connecticut Website is a little confusing on Assault Weapons. It looks like they single out Colts, but others are fine. Thanks for any info.

No mag restrictions in CT

Prebans are fine. Only exception are Colt models, and there are some exceptions there too.

Thanks for keeping a CT resident shooting!

Thanks for the info. That is basically what I was reading as long as I stay off the State of Connecticut webpage, they can make anything confusing. After reading their webpage, it sounded like any assault weapon had to be registered back when the law went into effect and you would be screwed now as far as bringing anything in. thanks again

Yup, the way that reads is that if you had something on the banned by name list (i.e Hk G3 or Colt Sporter), or had a select fire MG, you had to register it with the state back in the early 90's. Generic pre-ban AR-15's such as olympic, sandra, eagle, essential, bushmaster, etc, etc are not banned by name, so they are good to go.

Confusing, but the lawmakers were too stupid to really accomplish much besides frustrate everyone.

Merry Christmas
