 West Virginia handgun competency class??

I talked to a buddy of mine this morning who is on a long term job in WV. He wants to get a Florida CHL.

He is trying to find someone that has credentials to certify his competency with handguns. I suggested that he take the WV CHL course and was told it is a 2 day process. He said he doesn't have time to take a 2 day course and as he has his Indiana CHL, he doesn't feel that he needs to sit for the lectures and written test.

All that is required for the Florida license is a written certification of some kind proving his competency with a handgun.

He said that he is willing to go to northern WV, eastern OH, SW Pennsylvania to get this done.

Any suggestions on somebody like an NRA Licensed Handgun Instructor or something equivalent who can do this for him?

Thanks.

Well if your buddy who is on a long term assignment can't find the time to meet the requirements than I guess he dosent get a permit. He's already fine to one day out of his life, what's one more? When I go after certs in any other areas I expect to follow their rules.

There's a guy in Morgantown at one of the gun stores that does a single day class, at the end of it you shoot a paper plate or something. I took the actual class from another gun shop that made us shoot multiple days for a while. Call around the Morgantown shops and see what classes they offer.

Read my post. He isn't trying to meet WV's criteria, he's trying to get a qualification certificate for a Florida non-resident.

The guy works 6 days a week, so he can't take a 2 day course.

Thanks! I think he's working around Dodridge County so that might work. I'll let him know.

not that i'm recommending this guy, but i've seen ads locally - he's in Parkersburg, may meet your friend's needs, says he does 4 hour classes

Yeah, i wouldn't recommend RLR either. Had too many friends say that they wish they could take back those hours with RLR, but it works.

This outfit here will even fill out your Florida forms! May want to check them out. Also in Parkersburg.

Unless things have changed, I got all my stuff to do WV CCW Permit in 4hrs.

And my local dealer still does 1day classes.

Seems like your buddy is getting told BS info.
