im going, will be wearing the arfcom shirt. Leaving in a minute, its kinda goofy to drive way past the AFB to the fedex field just to shuttle back, but whatever.

I got a great picture today of the F22 and the P51 in a slow, tight formation fly-by. Pretty awe inspiring site that was.
And that F-22 is one bad boy of an airplane. Seriously impressive capabilities.

I was there Sat.
Sucks there will be no show next year. Last I heard budget cuts will make the show every other year. Guess it will be 4 years till the Blue Angels if they still rotate BA / Thunderbirds.
I wonder why Fat Albert wasn't painted up in their normal paint scheme or was that just a replacement C130?

I had a chance to walk through the hangar where all the booths were for Army/Marines/etc. I couldn't believe how many SCAR platforms they were displaying in there.

Andrews isn't MD, it's Federal property.

Been meaning to catch the Andrews show for the decade I've been living down here... still haven't made it. In fact, I can't recall the last airshow I've been to... McGuire or Willow Grove... 18-20yrs?
Hope to catch Andrews in a couple years when my daughter is old enough.

I was there back in 77 or 78. We (First Platoon of Honor Guard Co. of the Old Guard) were practicing for our part of the "show".
I remember during a break we watched one of the Harriers showing off. Vertical take offs, hovering, floating side to side, backing up, raising to a hover and then accelerating and climbing out before returning to hover and set down on the runway again.

What was interesting this year is that the Harrier rep who was with the show announcer said "We don't land vertically here because the exhaust gasses are so hot, they'll melt the asphalt". The Harrier did not ever touch down in VTOL configuration.
I participated in the show back in I believe it was '95. We provided the Huey static display.

They have announced now that there won't be a show next year because of the expense of having it every year. They're gonna skip a year.
