Any GOOD 1911 shooters around Gordonsville?
Just got a RIA tactical and am getting pretty poor groups so Id like to have someone else try it out. Will try a different type of ammo today to see if that helps.

Sounds like me! I hand over my stuff to someone else to find out it's potential as well.
FWIW... my RIA Tactical shoots well. At least in someone else's hands. In mine... ehhhhh, not so much.
Good luck!
A good/great shooter can pick up any pistol and shoot with it.
I think I just need more practice with it. Im not really into handguns but can just picture myself with a 1911 so Im kinda forcing it. I slowed down today and shrunk my groups to less than 4" at 10yds but Id still like to shave a inch off and get rid of the occasional flyer.
If you're not familiar with shooting pistols, then you really need to go slow and focus on the basics.
Focus on sight alignment, breathing, trigger control, follow through. This applies no matter what stance you use.
If you have a way to bench rest the pistol, then do that in an effort to gauge the accuracy of the pistol.
Recommend you use a benchrest or pistol stand to see if its you or ammo/gun. Bring targets in close and work your way out. Hitting bullseye 10 rings at 25 yards with a 1911 is a challenge. If you can video yourself, it will show your stance and you maybe flinching, second shot followup issues, etc.
Close to Gordonsville, and would love to help, but I suck at shooting my 1911.
Last week I was going about 2 for 7 on a 4" gong at 25yds.
