Yesterday, Senate Bill 353 was given a favorable “do pass” recommendation in the state House Judiciary Committee. This legislation now goes to the House of Delegates for its consideration.

Introduced by state Senate Majority Leader John Unger (D-16) and Senate President Jeff Kessler (D-2), SB 353 would expedite the process of purchasing a firearm for valid concealed carry permit holders by making West Virginia eligible for an exemption from the FBI National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). Such carry permit holders have already cleared a background check. This legislation would further conform state law to federal law and lead to greater reciprocity for permit holders throughout the United States.

Thank you to the House Judiciary Committee who worked late last night to ensure that this crucial pro-Second Amendment legislation was sent to the House floor for a vote.

Please contact your Delegate(s) and respectfully urge him or her to support SB 353 on the House floor. Contact information for your Delegate(s) can be found here.

It is mostly good things in that bill. one of the downsides, is that the cost of a license will increase by ten dollars. I hate to see that, but I understand. I do hope that it passes, and gets signed into law.

Being read on the house floor, along with the apprentice hunting license bill, and the one dealing with seized guns being returned to the rightful owners. Looks good on all front fellas
