I used to buy fuel from the PX/gas station off 395 right next to the Pentagon. Noticed the other day they bulldozed the building & entire site.
What happened? Plans to rebuild or did they move it someplace else?
They demolished it for the expansion of Arlington Cemetery. The Navy Annex is planned for demolition as well.
My hunch is it also got way too many non-authorized users, and they weren't really checking IDs there for pay at the pump. Nearest PX gas station is now aboard Fort Myer.

Wow - never thought about that! THere was a sign that civilians were only allowed to buy the alternative fuels & that's all I even thought of buying! (ethanol).
I knew people during high school who ran afoul of MPs at Aberdeen proving ground & hearing about that, it seems like a wise idea to mind your Ps & Qs where .mil is concerned (MPs are strict & have no sense of humor). I guess buying the gas there would save a lot of money, but it would have been clear theft if you did not have an ID.
Thank you for the explanation.
