Anyone in WV with a NFA Trust here?
Looking to get into the game and was wondering if there were any local lawyers to work with?
Located around Southern WV.
I'm in the EPH and had one drawn up by a local WV lawyer. Cost was reasonable. IM me for more info if you wish.
Agree which ChuckD05 in southern Wv looking for info on trust too lawyers and price range
I know of a Pro-Gun Attorney in Huntington, WV area. Now, whether or not he will do an NFA trust, I haven't a clue. I'll send his info your way though...

( I used an LLC)

Sorry, I wasn't sure if he could do it or not. I hope that someone will come along.

For those of you that PM's me about "my" attorney, looks like I left her card at work, I'll get back to ya in a couple days.
Living Trust on the Web
$149 for an individual, $199 for couples
I went with them, and the ATF accepted it no problems. You have the option to include a clause about firearms/accessories.

IIRC we have the same one: Tammy McWilliams at
Trump and Trump in Martinsburg. Her husband Jim owns the Tango Down range in Hedgesville.
There ya go, thanks Bubbles.
As for Southern WV we have a valuable resource down here, the founder of WVCDL has a law office in Beckley. I don't know if he does this area specifically but he is really on top of CCW and firearms issues overall.

Jim Mullins has been very active for us. If anyone can support him that would be great.
Slightly OT:
Many recommend having an attorney's card in your wallet for firearms-related issues, both civil (like this) and criminal. Do you know if T&T have a criminal practice specialty in this area, too?

Numerous calls to Jim Mullins have gone un-returned.

He has done great things for the WVCDL, and still does. However, this is the reason that I did not refer him for a NFA trust. I have heard this more than once.
Jeremy
I got a hold of Jim a long time ago, but he wanted a little too much $$$ for me to go with him.
I appreciate all he has done for 2A rights in WV, but the LTOTW site was substantially cheaper and worked just as well.
I tried repeatedly for a year to get Jim to return my call about an NFA trust. Several phone calls, e-mails and 2 personal chats. No luck.
No comment on Jim.

So you guys have used this firm with success? Reasonable rates?
I live in Charleston, land of the no sign-off.

I went with an LLC for this exact reason.

I am getting ready to get a suppressor and have to figure all this stuff out, but I already know that I won't be able to get forms signed in Clay.

I thought it was by law they had to sign off unless you had a criminal background?

I grew up in Clay and still have family up there, small world! Poopy won't sign the Form 4? I though Kanawha was the only county in the state that wouldn't sign off on them. That is garbage.
No, it is not a law that they have to be signed off on. They are not like the CCW permits. It is up to each CLEO to decide what they want to do with it.

According to a chat with her husband this weekend, she is charging about $500 to set it up.

An often recommended attorney in the southern part of the state charges the same I believe. I'm not lawyer, but it seems excessive. I purchased a copy of Will-Maker a few years ago but the dire warnings scared me awary from it.

I paid a LOT less than that. I did walk in with a partially prepared trust, one I got here in the NFA forum and tried to modify. She indicated I saved about $50. Maybe she found me cute

Ummmm... I know you, I know Tammy, and I know Tammy's husband.
I'm just going to say... I think not.
I still say go with this:
Living Trust on the Web
You'd only pay 30-40% of the cost of a lawyer-made trust and you'd be good to go as far as the ATF is concerned.
And you wouldn't have to pay a yearly fee like you would if you went with an LLC. I don't plan on getting a huge number of NFA items, so I didn't think getting a trust drawn up by a lawyer or an LLC was worth it for me, but YMMV. Good luck with whatever you choose
I believe I may have found a local attorney to do this for me.
Will keep this updated.

Gentleman/(ladies),
Anyone still looking for a lawyer to set up gun trust, I now know of a local Attorney, in the Huntington area, that is doing them for a flat $300. Just send me a PM, and I will pass along the contact info.

There is no Sheriff I am aware of south of Kanawha Co. that will refuse to sign your Form 1 or 4.....and I got a sign-off in Kanawha County. Ther Sheriff is not the only official who can sign.

Who signed off for you? I've heard of people asking just about every possible authorized official and all getting turned down...
Got a local guy around Huntington, WV to draft up my trust for me.
Now it's just a matter of more money and time before I get the toys!

The Former Chief Prosecutor. Lets just say I was on very good terms with one of his female deputy prosecutors at the time.

I grew up with the current Chief Prosecutor and while I haven't spoke to him directly, I have been told through mutual friends that he won't sign off. That being said, some friends of mine are saying the Trust might be a better method even if you could get a sign-off, just because of how you can transfer ownership upon your passing.
