New gun shop in Mchenry-Awesome!
Just got back from Second Amendment Sports, a new gun shop in McHenry. I highly, highly recommend this shop.
The prices are hands down, the best I have ever seen in a brick and mortar shop.
This is a smaller shop but they do $25 transfers and were geared towards the Black Rifle shooter.
The best part is the owner is is young, incredibly knowledgeable and extremely friendly. There was absolutely zero gun shop dickheadery. No one was a secret agent for the SEALs or Delta and no one was trying to one-up the next guy.
Very cool shop. Very, very awesome owner.
Go see what the future looks like. Very refreshing experience.

409 N. Front St (Rte 31) McHenry.
I think I caught they are open Tues-Sat. I'd call first Sven.
Small shop, but a great contact to make

Sounds promising, maybe I can get out there next weekend.
Cool! I will have to check out the competition. (just kidding) I think its great! Cant wait till the range opens in Crystal Lake.

These guys were really nice. Really beautiful NM Garand in a laminate Boyds over there right now, bedded, FA HB, IHC bolt, sights actually fitted correctly. Barely any wear on the bullet guide. Milled trigger group housing. I didn't take the action out of the stock because like I said, it's bedded but it was sharp as it gets. It's on consignment and I actually talked to the owner for a little while who was an older gent that had a picture book of his full auto goodness across the state line.
Took my boys in there and spied a really beautiful SAA for $700
+2 great guys! They did a couple transfers for me and couldnt be any happier with their communication. I was glad i found them through GB. The last i have heard they are planning on running some informative classes ranging from safety to conceal carry. Just have to say a beautiful shop!
I hope it stays douchebaggery free. 10-8 Outfitters was douchbaggery free for a long time but on my most recent visit, total SNAFU.
Darn, closed on the only days I have off

I'll have to stop out there when the daughter's at the gym sometime.
Thanks patriot, I'll have to check it out, good to hear that they are friendly, and they're in McHenry,
Can anyone tell me what manufacturers they stock? I might be able to send some business their way.

+1 on that, I'm tired of all the magpul stuff at every store.
I stopped in there today, they pretty much have a wide variety of taste. Its definitely not only black rifle. Heard some news about the range, mostly they are in the works.
I stopped there on a busy day, so I didn't really get to talk much, but do these guys do transfers of new guns or are they wanting you to order new through them? Are they email friendly, as I like to ask permission before a transfer, and like to give info. via email, so they can have all the info. written down.
Do they fax ffls out of state?
Also, do they charge sales tax on transfers. People aren't supposed to, but I have been charged by one in the past, on an out of state purchase, and wasn't happy.
I plan on visiting them again soon, but I wondered if anyone has any first hand experience, what their transfer policies are. Every dealer seems to have their own rules.
Went in there looking for a 1911. They had a few at decent prices (the springfield mil-spec was priced too high though, IMO). Ended up getting a springfield loaded for a decent price, supposedly on-sale.
There was a little gunshop silliness, but nothing major. Mostly my fault as I had a trade in, but it was all good and mostly smooth without unnecessary delay.
Must be the guys dad, called magazines "clips"
My new springfield shoots great, BTW.
There is one thing that I saw, that I forgot to ask about, but seemed unusual, and that was their waiting periods are longer than normal.
I'm not sure, but I think they don't count Sat. or Sun. as waiting days. They have a paper chart, behind the counter, that says when you can pick up something, after you buy on a certain day. Strange.
Nice shop though, and Al, the big guy, is very friendly.
Sounds like you guys had a better experience then I did. First the shop is very very small and you better keep an eye out for the sign because my gps didnt go to the shop and it an odd building. Really they didnt have much the day I was there, and the bigger size guy(owner?) really wasnt that friendly IMO. But that might have been because he was to busy talking to three of his friends who were talking about a gun show they all went to and were blocking most of the counter. If you have to travel far, I wouldnt bother but thats JMO and I live 15 mins from there and would rather go to HP.
I ordered 2 PSA stripped lowers and used this shop to receive them. I had the same experience with the big guy and a few guys taking over the corner of the counter. I found them on the internet and it had $20 for transfers if 2 or more but when I was there I was told that was old and should have been taken down. When I went back it was a little busy but the other 2 guys were there as well, one who is the owner. They were more personable.
I like that is local, I could walk there. But the first impression was not the best. I will give them another shot and if no better will try another that is not as close.
Disregard! Wrong shop review!
