The desert is pretty much the only free place to shoot. Anywhere else, you're gonna have to pay in some way.

I got tired if trying to find places. Everywhere I use to shoot is now off limits. I finally just ponied up and got a membership at BRPC. Best thing I ever did. Im a local. Lived in Hendo all my life.

I also live in Hendertucky, have since 1990. Most of my favorite spots are closed now also. BRPC membership renewed last month.

Thanks guys,
That's pretty close to the same distance from my house.
At this point i could probably use that $125 towards ammo and practice a little more effectively but i think i might enjoy some of the competitions and things they have going on there even though i would still consider myself quite the amateur. It is almost worth it for the safety and probably a little less crowded. The open desert gets all sorts of people going out there and usually some that don't know the laws or safe shooting. I see some folks set up to shoot not 100 ft from the road almost every time i go out there and so many people that choose bad or little backstops you can hear so many ricochets sometimes.

Worst part about Boulder is if you are not competing in one of their matches , and are a weekend shooter , you are limited.

The long range matches close the members side on the 2nd , 3rd and 4th Sundays , cowboy takes the whole first weekend of the month.

You are then forced to shoot on the public side which limits you to two hours as well as no full auto :(

If you are off during the week , it is certainly worth joining.

I was going to sign up this year , but those issues as well as the " no full auto over .223 /7.62 x 39" thing sucks.

Desert Hills is another option , $10 for residents , no time limit , unlike Boulders 2 hour limit on the public side.

desert hills looks like a nice option too might just give it a go with the stoeger on the sporting clays. btw stoeger makes an awesome entry level inertia action auto loader at least imho.
also the top navigation on desert hills website is freakin sweet
