Visitor advice - boots on the ground
I'm sure there will be many. Here's my request: What to locals do in Las Vegas for a good time? Where is a good place for real people to sit and have a drink and act normal and have conversation? I don't want to know the best shows to see, the loosest slots, the stripclub with the hottest girls, or loosest compliance*, just places, on or off strip, in downtown or wherever, where life can be lived and the town can be enjoyed.
*have to admit I'm not above following a bachelorette party around like a line of chum
I'm here. No machine guns, no hookers, no androgynous chinaman toting me about in the trunk of his car. I may nap.
ETA arrival
Just outside of town to the north go see the Shelby museum. It is a good way to blow a few hours and it's priced perfect at free. You don't need a "tour" either, just go in and see the cars.

Thanks wolf. Should I wear my Pontiac Racing shirt? ;)
Catch some of the cheap ($1.75 for 20oz) beer and good BBQ at Ellis Island right off of the strip. It is right next to a Super 8 motel on Koval just south of Flamingo (Right behind Balley's). They brew their own beer on site.
Check out the Atomic Museum on Flamingo
New Frontier Armory and Lock 'n Load are two gun stores you should check out.
You would enjoy the vibe at McMullan's Irish Pub. It's pretty close to the strip, adjacent to the Orleans Hotel.

Pretty Much any PT's or Sierra Gold is gtg. All the Stations Casinos Properties cater to locals as well.
There is a small billiards hall right next to Golds Gym on Flamingo and Sandhill, on the NW corner 3740 Flamingo it is called Best Billiards LV and it has some top notch billiards tables, THE kickker is the Italian restaurant that is there, the owner is from italy ( he is he chef also) and uses his grandmothers recipies it it one of the best Italian food places in town in my account and I have lived here since 1979. His neme is Ermanno his wife works behind the bar. That place gets 5 stars as a hidden locals jem.
Big Dog's for their micro brews and garlic fries. Cheese curds are good there too.
