Matt tricked out my Beretta 92 Steel I. He took a good pistol and made it great.

that seems like the hard, complicated, expensive way to do it.
a Sling Stud only requires 1 hole and a bipod will mount to it, no problem. this is how bipods were mounted before rails were invented. and it's what the bipod adapter is trying to replicate.
a sling stud is about $1. a chunk of rail and a bipod adapter will be more unless you really find a deal on both parts.
i'm just not sure how thick the forend is on that gun. if it's thin using two screws on the rail may make it more secure than using one longer screw.
not sure why a why a shotgun needs a bipod, unless it's a slug gun being used as a short range tactical thumper.
If you're in our end of town we can knock that out for you.

The reason I want to use a Harris bipod adapter is because I think it would be more secure than just installing a wood threaded sling stud. I would like to be able to carry the gun around on a sling without having to worry about the thin wood fore end getting messed up. But I would welcome the opinion of a gunsmith "maybe I'm over engineering the whole thing".
I'll try to clarify it a little bit more….
"I am by no means trying to add a bipod to the shotgun. I just want to add the bipod adapter so I have something that I can insert a sling stud in to so I can attach a sling to the shotgun."
Yes I know they make mag caps that have sling studs in them but I'm planning on running a Nordic extension tube so that rules that idea out.
Linkto bipod adapters that I'm talking about something like the HB2, HB2A, or HB2R down the page on the left side.
And as far as the rail goes I completely agree I would like the rail to use two screws to attach to the fore end instead of one. I can't seem to find a piece of picitany rail that is less than 3" long that has two holes in it anybody got any recommendations on where to look?

Try
Samson Manufacturing
They have 2" rail accessories.
