It's not too bad when they spread it, it's real bad when they spray it
Don't worry, I get to experience that a few times a year too. I don't really mind it.
You can always sell and buy a place in town.

That is not going to happen. I would rather deal with Manure, Skunks, Coyotes, Possums, racoons, deer etc. Than neighbors from hell and street lights. We did that for far to long.
I went to school at Michigan State University. Basically it's a beautiful campus almost surrounded by farm.
During the spring fertilizing season there was no escaping the odor. Kind of got used to it after a couple of years. Now I live in the country and the smell doesn't bother me in the least. Kind of reminds me of easier days.
I call

My grandfather had a dairy farm in Juneau county when I was young. I can still smell it, even though it's been about 50 years since he sold it.

I used to live in a place where I was bordered on 4 sides by steaming piles of shit. Now I live in the country and I only have to deal with it in the spring.
Speaking of Shit happens I just called my wife and apparently their was some excitement at my house last night she was working and I'm in Ohio for some service school which kinda sucks cause I would have liked to have seen it. We live just outside of beaver dam. I guess a drunk driver was trying to get away from the po po went off the county road next to our house through the ditch though our backyard over the garden through the neighbors back yard and into the beaver dam river. So I had a stupid drunk and a county sheriff drive through my backyard at about 2am I guess there's no damage which is good I'm lucky he didn't hit the back deck. Always gone for the good stuff.

I'm guessing he moved somewhere "in the country" near Madison. It's such a concentrated stink there it catches the spring breeze and wafts all the way out to the country. That or D.C.
No I am pretty sure it was cow shit. The farmer has no bull.

Swims across to the other side, gets away, and goes right back to the original scene to resume the late night drama. It's almost funny. I wonder if her new boy friend had any idea that she was going to bring this sort of BS into his life.
Hope the dash cam video gets released.
That shit smell is the smell of freedom.
I'll take it over the stink of the city any day.
Yes, we need pics of the crap.

Damn straight. I work a little in the dairy industry. Cowshit is pure gold to me, I smell that, I smell CASH!!!!
This thread reminded me of a few rules I came up with back in the 80's. I will also add that every time I break one or more of these rules, I tend to regret it. I will never break rule #1.
1) I will not live on an alley.
2) I will not live where police helicopters tend to light up my house at night. (I am a light sleeper)
3) I will not live on the corner of an intersection or the top of any "T" intersection.
4) I will not live in places where I may wake up to find local PD and a tow truck removing a car or motorcyle from my front lawn or porch. (see rule #3)
5) I will not live in a house that is lower in elevation then the nearest road.
6) I will not live where the excessive gun fire always sounds like 9mm, an AK OR both.
7) I wil not live inside the Bypass of any city.

May I pass these along to some of my first-time buyers looking for homes?
While we can chuckle at these, there's a lot of wisdom here.

Sure, I developed all of those rules before we bought our first home in 91-92. All based on our experiences, not reading it in books. I handed it to our realtor, who was a former IT Manager/Client of mine along with physical boundaries to search within, and he knew how to slice the data.
There is more, but that should be the magic you bring to the table.
You could add a 6a) Gun club gun fire is just fine.
The farmer went and did it again.

Looks like one more pass and the field will be covered. My brother and his wife are coming this week end. I hope the like the country air.

I don't know why, but this reminds me of coming home from backpacking in Colorado years ago, and my brother picked me up. On the way home, we passed the farms doing their spreading - my brother hated it, I told him it smelled like home
there doing it up by us too just smells like home, cow manure don't bother me but i don't care for the pig shit

Especially when it is mixed with piss and being sprayed on a field on a windy day. It takes a well disciplined person to be able to suppress their gag reflex when you smell this stuff.
