Motorcycle road racing fans? We need some cornerworkers for Blackhawk Farms

Hope this is OK to post.

CCS Racing, one of the 2 largest motorcycle club roadracing orgs in the US, holds races at Blackhawk Farms Raceway in South Beloit, IL. The cornerworking group who supplies the workers for the races needs some workers to replace some long time workers who retired. We are looking for new workers who preferably live close enough to the area that can be there on a regular basis.

Its a good way to get involved with racing without the expense of racing. Now the pay isnt alot (but hey, with SCCA, workers PAY SCCA for the 'priviledge' to cornerwork), you are out on a corner from 8am til done (6pm at the latest) in all weather, but it can be alot of fun being closer than any spectator can. Its like an extended family with the workers, since you do have to develop a trust with your fellow workers to keep each other safe. Workers get free admission to the track. After a day of training, it usually is $50/day (sometimes more. It may be $65/day now but dont quote me on that). You arent required to work the whole weekend if you cant. Theres a couple workers who can only work saturdays.

If interested the dates at Blackhawk Farms are
May 19-20 Blackhawk Farms
June 30-July 1 Blackhawk Farms
July 21-22 Blackhawk Farms
Aug 18-19 Blackhawk Farms
Sep 22-23 Blackhawk Farms

Be at the pavilion at 7am and ask for Dave Fanning (or email at midwestsafetycrew@hotmail.com ). No shorts, no red or yellow shirts or hats. White shirts preferred, blue jeans fine, white pants preferred but not a big deal.

More info at www.midwestsafetycrew.com or just ask me. Been a cornerworker since 2001 but going back racing this season so I wont be able to work.

some corners you actually can. for the most part you park your car near where you work. there are shelters in the corners for shade and rain. if its bad, we've stopped the races and had workers take cover. lightning is the biggie since you have a radio headset on.

I would love to if I lived closer. I'd like to watch rider technique. I got out there for the first time last year, and was really the most fun I've had in my life, no exaggeration. I was novice my first two times, and my 3rd time going I was bumped up by one of the control riders. long story short, I low sided on corner 2 or 3, the really open high speed one. I was depressed for weeks. I sorta fixed my bike up, but I should replace some more things before I get it back out there. Sorta waiting on a higher paying job too. Good luck finding a cornerworker.
