Incident Last Night, Wanted To Share

So last night my girlfriend of 4 years (some of you have met her), wanted to go out with a few friends downtown Appleton. I agreed to watch her daughter and sit at her house and come pick her up when she's done so no one is driving around illegally. I drop her off at her friends house about midnight, one of her friends is prego so wasnt drinking and drove them there and back. She texts me about 320am to come pick her up, she's ready to come home.

I hop in the car, go pick her up, come home and we're talking. It's now about 335ish. She is getting undressed and changing from her too scantily clad "going out clothes" to her pajamas and we're talking. She starts brushing her teeth and is in the living room shutting off the TV and what not. I am sitting on the end of her bed waiting for her to come in. All of a sudden there's a knock on the door. Immediately without looking I know it's the guy she made a huge mistake with while we were separated a few times earlier and he's nothing but bad news and she's been trying to fend him off for over a year now. To give you back history, he's african american, 6'2, 210ish, and has a record longer than his dick. Some of the things on his record are stalking, harassment, battery, domestic abuse, manufacturing and selling narcotics, stealing a vehicle and driving it without owners consent (this is very recent and a felony and he's undergoing trial soon for it), he also has tons of other crimes going back 10 to 12 years. Things like arson charges for the girl that got him stalking and harassment though they couldn't prove it and so he wasn't ever convicted but the fact he was charged with it tells me he did it, just lacked evidence to prosecute him for it. I basically knew he was bad news and always gave her a really hard time for not finding some respectable guy to be with when we were apart and I helped her find out that he lied to her about his name and age. He's actually 40, but he told her he was 30. etc.

Anyway, he stops over randomly every few months at 3-4am and wants sex. He also calls her but calls restricted so she can't get his number. Just 5 nights ago I was over there watching a movie and cuddling and her phone rings, she shows it to me and its him, its restricted. She declines the call and he calls back 8 times in a row repeatedly. I of course do not like this and tell her to call the cops but she doesn't want to bring it up, she keeps thinking he'll go away. It's a source of contention for us none the less.

Back to the story.

There's a knock. I know it's him. She gets upset and opens the door and tells him to "Get the fuck out of here, wtf are you doing here you crazy stalker, get the fuck out and leave now or I will call the cops". I look out the window and see him. This is the first time ever being this close to him. I put my shoes on and I of course am so angry and upset I run to the door but she wont let me out knowing I would tear him apart and spend a night in jail. She successfully keeps me inside the house. I look out the window again, he's gone. Okay... she calls cops after I bitch her out about how this issue is not resolved and I am tired of it. She's tired of it too. She calls the cops and they tell her that since he left, they cant do anything, but she can go to court house and file papers for a restraining order on Monday. She agrees to do so we hang up with police and go back to talking about this and just trying to get calm again.

After talking for 20 to 30 minutes, I decide that my gut tells me he is not just gone. When I looked out the window the first time I saw him but no vehicle. I was thinking to myself, how the fuck did he get here? He lives 5 miles away. So I tell her I am going to do a perimeter check and just make sure, she says "I am sure he is gone..." and I probably agree but do it anyway. I go outside and look around, im mostly looking for a vehicle, thinking he may be sitting in his car waiting for me to leave and go home, but I see no car. I am about to go back in when my gut tells me to check the back yard... its only 6 feet wide and spans the length of the duplex but the neighbors put up a huge privacy fence 4 months ago and it's dark and a perfect place to hide. Because I have not received my CCW permit I am unarmed and my SureFire is at home (stupid me). I walk back and turn the corner to check the back yard and there is this motherfucker. He is on his tippy toes peeking in thru her kitchen window trying to look at her and see what we were up to.

I am not going to lie... for under a second, my heart stopped beating and I was scared, but then all the training and books I have read kicked in and the first thing I did was assess the situation and in about 1 second I knew how to kill him if I had to, and that I had to get him out of here without touching him if I could, but I knew how to kill him if it went that way. He is after all a felon and a career criminal and I was not going to let him hang around. My girlfriend is 5'2 and her daughter is only 8 years old. I was not going to leave them to this fucker. So I immediately regained composure after assessing the situation and how to take him out if I had to (this took about 1-2 seconds), he was scared shitless because he was NOT expecting me to creep around the corner. I immediately took an authoritative stance and posture and I started yelling at him to get the fuck out of here, wtf are you doing... leave now before I have to hurt you, there is a girl and her daughter inside so you need to leave NOW.

He immediately is scared shitless of me and turned into a pussy. He starts telling me that my girlfriend's neighbor has a bottle of his wine... and I am like wait.... her neighbor or melissa? (my gf). He said Melissa. I was like okay buddy, get the fuck out of here now, I dont care if she does have wine.. get the fuck out. I said you have two seconds to leave or I will be calling cops and physically removing you and you wont like it.

I run to the front door, pop my head inside and yell at my gf that he's still here, he was looking thru windows and to call the police NOW. I go back outside and turn around and hes now at the front lawn and coming towards me. I immediately stepped down and approached him and said to leave now or I will have no choice to fuck him up and wait until police arrive. He gets scared and stops. My girlfriend peeks head outside and tells him cops are on the phone. He starts to walk away. I notice he is walking down the street... and cops are 2-3 minutes away. I wanted to see where his car was so I followed him from a distance of 5-6 houses away because I wanted his license plate number (police do not know his address and I wanted a way for them to track him).

He sees me following him and he gets so nervous and scared he grabs his pants that were falling off and starts running as fast as he could away yelling "please dont chase me bro" LOL.

I am not going to lie, watching him try to hold his pants up and run away scared telling "DONT CHASE ME BRO" was the funniest thing ever, I even laughed. I went back to the house after he bolted onto someones private property (I would never trespass) and the police came in 5 minutes later. I know of the cops personally, great guy and friend, used to run the MMA club in appleton and personally trained me back in the day. I explain the situation, they sent out a few squads to look for him but never found him. We gave him our info and he said he would patrol her house everynight while hes on duty and make sure she's safe since she is now scared to be at her own fucking house.

He said I did the right thing not beating the shit out of him. My initial instincts were misguided by emotions but I came to my senses under pressure and I attribute that to my training and mindset I have had drilled into me.

I can say that I know now how no amount of training can prepare you for such an encounter but I felt that I did default to my level of training over the years and it served me well. No one got hurt, no one went to jail (he will go eventually), etc.

I can say for sure that I am upset at myself for not having my surefire, blade, or a gun. I am still waiting on my CCW permit and wished I would have had it.

Just thought I'd share... adrenaline wore off and I am tired but can't sleep, I stayed up all night on watch so my gf could sleep and it didnt work. She is not scared to death of being at her house at night and I can't blame her. The system is broken. Police explained to build a stalking/harassment case she needs a LOT of evidence. It's bullshit. Career criminal harassing her and making threats and nothing will happen. More fuel to the idea of carry anyway and do what is necessary.

Okay... feel free to comment but this is not a trolling/argument thread, so dont fuck it up please. We can talk about it in a calm manner :)

For starters... why did you go outside to check the place out alone,at night, unarmed, without even a flashlight? I would have requested a police officer come check the place out the first time I had them on the phone due to not hearing a vehicle start up and leave.

Second... when you followed him down the street you became the aggressor if things had become ugly. This could turn out bad for you if you get dragged in front of a jury.

Third.... make sure she gets the restraining order filed and have a police officer deliver a copy to his hands (if possible).

Fourth.... Keep your head on a swivel for a while, who knows what a person who would stalk a girl for months after a breakup will do.

I did request for a police officer to come but we did believe he had left so they did not send one, even though I specifically asked for one, the dispatcher or whoever was on the phone said since he left there was nothing they could do.

To your second point, I totally agree. The reason I was following him was to get a license plate but in hindsight I agree it was a bad tactical decision. It's something I would not have done had I been armed with even a flashlight.

I had no flashlight, knife, or firearm. To this, I have no excuses... just unprepared and I will NEVER let that happen again.

I appreciate your honest insight, I definitely fucked up on a few things... looking back I am grateful it happened to help shape my future outlook.

Thanks brother.

She needs to be on the courthouse steps first thing Monday morning to file for an immediate Temporary Restraining Order until he can be summoned to answer for a final restraining order. This way, if he as so much makes one phone call to her, he goes to jail. He shows up at her home or work, he goes to jail. Gets within x number of feet of her without a valid purpose, he goes to jail. But this all requires police notification & intervention. And, as we all know, 911 isn't instant. If she hasn't already applied for her CCW license yet, then she also needs to petition the court for an emergency CCW license when she makes her appearance for the TRO. I'm not sure of the proper procedures. If I were you, I'd suggest doing some research today to be ready for tomorrow morning. Good luck.

I'm not one to critique your defensive stance or how you went about chasing the guy down. I think None did that well.

The only part of the story that stands out to me (glaringly) is the fact HER EX feels he can stop over in the middle of the night. Whenever he wants.

THAT part of the story stands out as a part of the story you aren't in control of. As a third party to this story, a reader... something doesn't look right to me.

I hope you get the answers that this story needs, for yourself. Good luck.

I will not comment on how you handled the situation because none of us know what we would do in such a situation until we are in that situation. But I don't think that you needed to make your post a racist one. First off his race doesn't add anything to the post and second the way you said how long his record is is obviously a racist comment. SOrry about what happened to you but don't slump down to being a racist.

I agree. If she is really afraid of him, and doesn't want him around anymore, then why has she not called the police each and everyting he stops over at 3 in the morning? To me it does not seem she is all that eager to get rid of him. He keeps showing up at her door but the police cannot seem to find him? Really? She should know all the places he hangs out and such. That is a start.

You can be offendid by this next comment if you want but... Is she really worth all the hassle and trouble and stress she is putting you through? Is she being completely honest with you?

So would it have been racist if he just mentioned his record? You are the only one that made the racist tie.

Not knowing you or your GF, I will only offer from what I've just read that she needs to have the same fire you have in your gut on this about this whole situation. Hopefully now she does. I've had friends who have let things slide, thinking the person will change, that the guy will go away, etc. It didn't happen, and until the girls understood how serious the issue is, and how precious their safety is, things have a hard time changing.

Best of luck to the both of you - get that restraining order in and go with her if you can, both to make sure she follows through, but also to be supportive.

Absolutly not. Mentioning his record sets the stage for what kind of person he is, saying that he has a long record tells us that he's trouble, Saying that he's African American ads nothing to telling us if he's a stan up guy or a criminal, it would be like saying he has blonde hair - what difference does it make? Saying that his record is as long as his dick and saying that he's black to imply that he has a long dick is not neccessary. All it would have taken to have been said is that he has a very long record. That along with him saying that he lied about his age and name tells us that he's not trust worthy. I just don't see the need to have ever mentioned his race as it added nothing to the story.

PLEASE TELL ME THAT THIS GIRLS LAST NAME DOESN'T SOUND LIKE SHE PLAYED QB FOR THE PACKERS! I dated a girl with the same first name from Appleton with a daughter who lived in a duplex that a story like this wouldn't surprise me in the least.

He's a career criminal. He has no respect for the law or authority. I've heard her several times tell him to not stop over or call, but he does it anyway. It's infrequent at best, once every few months? The main problem is that she hates confrontation and thinks by ignoring the situation and him, he'll disappear. Apparently, that isn't the case. I agree, it's very unsettling to me as well. She should be taking a stronger stance on this.

Sorry but there was nothing racist about my post. I stated the facts, 6 foot 2, african american, huge record, history of violence, etc. I don't understand how the comment about his record being longer than his dick is racist? Have you never heard that term used before? It's used frequently in movies and tv shows when referring to a suspect with a long record, regardless of race. Sorry bud, but you should not try trolling. Nothing racist here, move along. As I said, if you have nothing positive to contribute, then dont post. You're what we call a troll :) Trying to start shit.

See that is the thing, I am not offended. I have had the same thoughts/feelings and it scares me because I was going to propose to her next month. Had a ring picked out she wanted and have been sacking away the 5k for the engagement ring, wedding band, etc... to get it taken care of. Now this happens and I am very upset about it. She claims its just because she hates dealing with it. Her conflict resolution method is to just never confront issues and hope they resolve on their own. I am hoping that is the case here, but anyway its not great for a marriage. Now I am very unsure. I feel like she should be begging for the police to get rid of him, etc.

I totally appreciate and respect your thoughts on this... I was thinking the same thing.

I got married last year, and that would have set off red flags as well. I'll pray for you both. Have you had a sit down, serious talk on the subject yet? Make sure she understands you're not upset about her past relationship, and that you are looking out for her safety and well being. Framing the conversation as such might be the key to her understanding (has helped when I've had such conversations back in my previous dealings with girlfriends and lady friends).

I am waiting for her to get some quality sleep first, she didnt sleep at all last night. She is staying over at my house tonight since she said she doesn't feel safe in her own home (nice, huh). If she isnt rested, I will die. :) I'll have the conversation tonight I think. Thank you, I really appreciate it!

I'm a troll because I call things out when people do things wrong? One other time I was called a troll on here when I called someone an asshole when they said they wrote on someone else's price tag on a gun at a show because he thought the price was to high. In your case you bring up that he's african american for absolutley no reason other than to be racist. What colo hair did he have? How about eye color? Was he right handed or left? Was he wearing shoes or boots? Was he Jewish? All of these things would have held the same relavance to your story and that is nothing! I'm not trolling, I'm trying to show how you are being racist. Maybe you didn't intend it to be raist but it is, if others don't see that maybe they should look in the mirror to see if they aren't a little racist.

Wait, this other guy is Jewish too?? Easy fix. Does she live on a busy road? Next time, throw a hand full of quarters in the road. Problem solved...

ETA. I can say this as there are jews in my family tree...

So you are claiming he is racist, because he stated what he know about the person he had an encounter with? Because he happened to be black that means he is racist? Would he be racist if he said the guy was white? Or is it only racist to say that a black man is black? I really think you are trying to make something out of nothing. What color hair? I am going to go out on a limb and say brown, eye color guess what, probably brown. Do you know many Jewish black men? Because I said all that does that make me racist? No It means I am making a judgemented opinion on what is most likely from what we/I/you know about many black people. It is based on scientific fact. If the police sho up and he has to give a description to an officer, what is he suppse to tell them? "Hello officer, this person was of no specific color?" By your logic if he tells the officer the man was black then he is being racist.

I honestly believe you are part of the crowd that thinks if someone says ANYTHING negative about another race the MUST be racist. If that is true you are flat wrong.

If you're making a police report and they need to look fr the person then absolutley you would say he's black, along with all the other stuff listed if you knew it, but in this story it doesn't matter. What difference did hs race make? IMHO it was said to imply that because he was black he was a bad person. He sounds like he is a bad person but it's not because he's black.

actually you are a troll because you like to come into discussions and try to get a rise out of people.

The sad part is that you are not even very good at it, there are people on this very HTF that are so much better at this than you.

I am so sick of people throwing the racist card every single time someone mentions a race whether it is african american, chinese, japanese, mexican, or purple martians. Get over it people, when someone describes someone else they nine times out of ten will use a race of one type or another.

Geez I go to the range with a buddy then come home to watch the packer game while eating some venison and look what this turns into.

You are right it is your opinion. Having one does not make you right. He said he did not say it to be racist. I can take him at his word, yours does not carry any weight with me. Only because of your previous statements here.

None and I had a great time at Ganders Range. This week we start league at the Gander virtual range. His buddies wife showed up today to shoot too. That woman could shoot VERY well. Well, until it became timed... poor hostage.

Sorry about the derail OP, I think this thread needed it though.

That is the thing I cannot figure out.... how come adding nothing more than a clock is so stressful for people. Even accomplished shooters will blow it when you add a clock.

so you are on private property and you need a CCW?
i fail to comprehend this.
you need to invest in some fox labs OC spray. that will allow you to provide a less lethal alternative to your pistol

is she renting?
if so, she needs to move NOW. change her cell number, and lock down privacy settings on her facebook page.
let all friends know they are not to divulge information to this piece of trash if he asks how she is doing
sounds like your girlfriend also needs to invest in a pistol and some pepper spray.

So would it have been racist if he just mentioned his record? You are the only one that made the racist tie.

The race makes the story a little suspect. The cops in Appleton know where all four of the black guys in Appleton are at all times. The idea they can't find him is silly.

Maybe you didn't intend it to be raist but it is, if others don't see that maybe they should look in the mirror to see if they aren't a little racist.

actually you are a troll because you like to come into discussions and try to get a rise out of people.

There go spouting carp like that. We know you have no friends.

I do so have a friend, I just have to tie a pork chop around my neck so he will play with me.

Pork chop, no. venison filet, HELL YES!!!

If he was racist he wouldn't be taking up the black guy's sloppy seconds.

She has a history of making very poor choices. She has sucked you into trying to be her defending champion, while she is ambivalent about wanting to be "saved." Multiple separations. She apparently doesn't want this guy out of her life. Drama queen.

You're putting yourself in situations that she doesn't want to resolve. I suspect you and she have not been healthy for each other in the past.

Eject, dude. Seriously.

This X 100. This much drama is a huge sign that you should pause the march down the isle until you know her better, can reasonably believe that there aren't any more dramatic surprises lurking, and see if you're comfortable with the way she handles things like this.

To settle the standing questions about why he's still coming around, or standing doubts about whether she's doing enough to get rid of him and sincerely wants him gone, you have to look at the total situation.

What were the circumstances of your and her's estranged relationship? You had a big fight, said some mean things to each other, and she ran out to fuck some strange felon that picked her up in a bar? Or had you two been officially broken up for a while and they met doing volunteer work for the same charity?

Did they have a relationship and go on dates, or were they just fucking? If she doesn't know where he lives and didn't figure out his age until after coitus, it doesn't sound like it took much courtship to bed her.

Does she bump into him and neglect to tell you? Did she see him earlier that night, and that's how he knew approximately when to stop by. I certainly wouldn't be considering marriage proposals if I thought that she was hanging out in the same place as him, in a slinky dress, while I was being her babysitter.

When you're trying to get him caught up in the system for his behavior, is she resisting your efforts because she is confrontation averse, or because she doesn't want him caught in the switches?

His race is a pertinent to your risk of STD exposure. Black men have a rather high incidence of VD on the whole. I know black men who live their lives in much the same low-risk manner as I do, and I imagine their infection rate to be below average for the category. This means that the low life, career criminal, felon black men have a VD incidence even higher than their published average. While hand wringing mental defectives call it 'racist' to take objective account of reality, I would advise against having relations with her until she had been screened for disease and infection.

You want to meet a good girl, that you can't wait to make your wife, and she has to REALLY want to be your wife. A woman that wanted to be your wife would have her concerns centered around you and your relationship at a time like this. She would be trying to protect something that was vital to her. If she's luke warm about taking action to put an end to this, then she's also luke warm about her concern for your and her future. Feeling funny about the conflict should be far from her mind if you were a priority in her life.

So would it have been racist if he just mentioned his record? You are the only one that made the racist tie.

The race makes the story a little suspect. The cops in Appleton know where all four of the black guys in Appleton are at all times. The idea they can't find him is silly.

Reminds me of this.

This.

You're in the stereotypical "Why buy the cow, when you get the milk for free?" scenario, except that while the analogy usually refers to the woman as the "cow" and the "milk" is sex, and "buying" is marriage, you're the cow, the milk is the safety of the stable/nice-guy, but she can go on a "break" or break up with you, and sleep with career criminals, no matter what their race, when she starts feeling bored with you, and wants a vacation with some "excitement and romance" in her life.

Unless she marries you, AND you all move 100 miles or more away from her current friends and social circle, this will never work, and you're just throwing good time after bad. And that's just to have a chance in hell of making it. If she did that, I'd still be giving you two less than 50/50 odds. That would be just to have any kind of odds at all.

A woman who has an 8 year old daughter and gets involved with a guy like that is whacked, and makes very poor life-choices.
