Boom to Zoom good and bad?

The good:
I was in Marshfield yesterday and stopped by Boom to Zoom and they had several lowers (dpms and a superior pistol lower $159) and they also had 40 boxs (500rd) of silver bear and brown bear ammo in 223 and 7.62. ($150 brown $165 silver) 20K in stock

The bad:
I was talking to another dealer (in buisness over 25 years) and he could not believe I would even consider stopping at boom to zoom after what they did. He says they have been going to gun shows and collecting information (recordings) on other venders and turning them into the ATF. Mostly these are people who do not have FFL's and are just private citizens who buy and sell guns as a hobby. He said several of the guys who he has known for 20 years as fellow venders are getting their houses raided by ATF and their guns and cash taken away. I guess that is one way to eliminate the competition, I will not be spending any of my money there..

WHAT????

I have bought a two guns from Boom to Zoom at gun shows, and have always liked their firearm selection at shows. My friend just bought a NIB Colt 6920 from their store for $1,270 out the door.

That is not good if that is true.

I have bought things from them in the past and have sent many people their way, but never again. The owner is an arrogant asshole. During one of the shows at the Sports Complex earlier in the year I asked his daughter for her phone number. He over heard me and came over and told me that he has diplomatic immunity in several countries and can make me disappear. He was dead serious and not joking around. He even pointed to another one of the guys in his booth and said "see him, he's still running guns so don't mess with us". I was like WTF? Do you think you are the only guys in this room with "experience"? You don't know anything about me or my experiences. We are not over in the box, we are in the US.
What was really funny was that before he started bitching at me, he was in mid sentence with a customer at the booth. He just completely blew that guy off to bitch at me. Anyways, to the owner of BTZ, fuck you asshole. If you don't want guys hitting on your daughter leave her at home.

Ya his daughter is hot was it the tall guy with a beard? (Don)

I was also told one of those guys is a convicted felon and kicked off local police department

Maybe they turned ATF informant becouse they HAD to, maybe not.... maybe someone should look into their past...

Yup I've heard the same thing from a dealer..

A older man bought a 870 at a show for a good price and the puts it on his table and tried to make a few bucks on it and BTZ, Called the ATF on the gentlemen. I know there are 3-4 guys in my shop that think BTZ is the best thing since pockets but in my mind there worthless...

Not sure of the names of the guys, but the one that bitched me out was the heavy set owner. The other guy was taller with a beard and looked a little gruff, like he had gotten into some "shit" before.
Its a good thing the owner wasn't at the show the previous week that he bitched me out. His daughter (Sara) was talking to me and a couple buddies and was quite flirtatious. If he had been there, he probably would have poked me in the eye or kicked me in the nuts or gone "diplomatic" on my ass. When I asked her for her number the next week, she had a completely different attitude (when daddy was around). What a shame with the drama crap. I got the better end of the deal though, as I bought 2 more suppressors that month and they don't talk back.

Yeah, it would have been nice to break a nose or something, but it just wasn't worth it. My father has instilled in me the "quiet professional" mindset since I was a child, so most confrontations like this where people are just being/talking stupid I walk away from. Now if he had come at me, that would have been entirely different. His fat ass would have been on the ground before he made it over the table. His buddy in the corner was the threat that I had my eye on, he looked like a fighter.

By the way, I do have a witness as to what was said. The customer that he was talking to when this happened just happened to be my buddy that I was at the show with.

It was something to that effect, but I don't recall the specifics. They got pinched for something and in return for no or reduced charges, they became informants. They wear wires also, that's how they've got a few people for the ATF.

I had the straight scoop on this issue with BtZ which doesn't resemble what people have been saying at gunstores and other vendors at the shows (we all know the stories we here). I'd prefer someone directly from BtZ set the story straight. If I were in their shoes and ATF asked me for a statement I'd roll over too instead of putting my livelyhood on the line.

As for the daughter, I also have kids her age and I'd be protective as well but I'm probably imtimidating enough without resorting to threats (Ask FT )

There is a difference between politely letting it be known that you don't want people hitting on your daughter and threatening someone's life. She is 20+ years old, I think she can tell someone on her own if she is interested or not. Like I said, if he doesn't like it he should not bring her. He uses her to lure in the 20-30 year old crowd to buy shit then gets pissed when someone notices?

Maybe its just you dude. I'm in the 20-30yo demographic and i never feel enticed into buying anything or stopping at their table because of her. Matter of fact i never noticed her until 2 weeks ago at the west bend show. Guess i go there to buy firearms and not pick up chicks.

The firearms industry is about as dirty as they come in terms of trash talking and dragging competitors through the mud, take anything you hear with a grain of salt. If your are going to post shit about someone business practice you should know the facts. So if he threatened you fine, said what ever fine, but if you don't know what may or may not be going on with the ATF or what ever maybe you shouldn't speculate. my two cents.

I've had a positive experience with teh SGM. As far as someone's daughter, either I've never noticed her at a show, or I musta had my blinders on.

If you look back at the posts you will see that I never stated anything about BTZ and the ATF. I didn't even start this thread, I just brought up what was told to ME by THEM (to show THEIR character).
I usually just end up going to the shows because a friend asks me to go with them. I very rarely go there to buy stuff (except some harder to find stuff like old high standard pistol magazines) because a good friend of mine is a class 2 manufacturer and can get me just about anything I want. Just about everything at the shows is over inflated in price, so why would I buy it there? And no, I don't let my dick lead me to buy anything.

Brad, only the first paragraph in my reply was directed toward you. There were two paragraphs after all, both containing two distinct and different topics. However it is my fault for not differentiating who I was responding two in both instances. So to make it clear the second paragraph is to everyone else who is spreading hearsay and conjuncture about Boom to Zoom. Sorry about that Brad.

To add to the rest of the posters or readers of this thread. My personal observation is that they have a good working relationship with the other dealers, and they have always treated me fairly with good prices. I used to see glowing reviews of them in this forum all the time.

f***
me and my buddies bought a few lowers from them a while back!
go figure they were out of spec superior lowers...
annyone know if superior will warrant their lowers to match with bushmaster uppers?
mine have a severe hinge effect which makes it impossible to separate upper from lower without a punch.

There is a grain of truth to that! I live in the county he used to work for.
