CCW Permit wait times
Today I called the Sheriff to schedule an appointment for my CCW and was told the next available appointment was in June??? A two and half month wait just to apply for a license? Is that normal?
Not as normal as browsing past page 1

What county do you live in? There really should be no reason to make an appointment just to drop off an application and get fingerprinted and possibly photographed. Having certain days of the week with specific hours, I can understand. When I dropped mine off in 2008, the days were limited to Tuesdays and Thursdays during regular business hours because there was only one part-time employee who worked the initial application submissions. But no appointment was ever required.
Without much more info, all I can guess is that your county sherrif is an anti and is trying to make the process as difficult as possible in hopes of people giving up out of frustration.

Not what I'm asking. I have to wait 2 and half months before I can even
submit my application, then for El Paso its about four weeks to process the application. Thanks
Why do you have to schedule an appointment? In Montrose County, you walk in, grab an application, return it completed with a check and wait a couple weeks.

Maybe they are slammed with app's? Hell the wait time for a BG check has been running forever (some days) Imagine the I took to long rush for ccw's nation wide. Either way i'd call them back to verify time frame.

I imagine everyone in El Paso county wants a CCWP.
Yes, for El Paso county that is normal. i waited about 2 months as well. When I showed up for my appointment, there were several people there before and after me. They said they keep a steady line of folks waiting.
They only have 2 people that do CCW permits, and one has been out for a medical leave.
It is certainly not because the El Paso Sheriff is Anti-gun, they are just that busy with applications and renewals. And they do have other tasks as well. Jus thier method of controlling chaos.

I should have worded that differently. Is the appointment like an interview? Or is it just to try and put some space between all of the people wanting to apply to make it a more manageable process for the county?
It was just scheudling for the fingerprints, photo, and application review. they actually sit down and go over the application to make sure there are no mistakes and then they enter it into the system while you are there.
There is no "interview" or other subjective stuff going on.
Thanks. That is actually kind of nice.

That makes sense and has brought the universe back into alignment. When I saw El Paso county, I went

.
Just got the call from Jefferson County, mine took about 75 days give or take a few I can not remember exactly which day January I dropped it off.
2 months Wow, Adams county is saying about 80 days when I dropped off the application and fingerprinted me yesterday. but I suspect they will take 89 days.
persocon mine took less than seventy days! They seem to be quoting on the high side!
Weld County. Downloaded the application forms from the SD website. Dropped off the completed forms, got finger printed, etc. anytime during normal business hours. 28 days got a call that applications (mine and the wife) got approved. Next, they wanted us to schedule an appointment for photo and card pick up. 10 more days ... so in less than 40 days I got my license.
Called in on Friday and got an appt for June 6th. El Paso county
