Skiing in Colorado (Steamboat)

Anyone local (or local-ish, or a frequent flier) know the best way to get 'deals' (relatively) in Steamboat?
We're going to be there all next week (arriving Monday the 12th, departing Friday the 16th).
We've already got lodging and equipment nailed down... pretty much just down to lift tickets for us, and ski school for the kids.
I've never been to CO before, so the prices on some of those things took me a bit aback.
I've only ever been skiing/snowboarding in Utah and New Mexico, and I'm assuming that perhaps the increased competition amongst the resorts in those areas keeps prices down a bit?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
