I was looking at Google maps. What is the ghost city of Blanca? Streets all laid out, no town

It's strange looking, having all of the streets laid out perfectly but there are no buildings. Can someone tell me what this is? Thanks.

It's where we bury all the Californians

Honestly, its a town of 391 people, probably not going to see too many buildings. The roads are merely dirt roads, so they probably just plowed a nice grid pattern a few blocks in each direction, in case the town expanded.

Use street view,A lot looks boarded up. You could probably buy a city block and name it after yourself!

Thanks for the reply, it makes sense. There are lots of perfect streets and even a few that are kinda strange, like a pavillion area or something.

I have an Army buddy that grew up in Ft. Garland, and have spent quite abit of time around that area, hunting and screwing around.. There is a large network of roads and lots with only a few temporary homes in it. I mean miles and miles of dirt roads set up like a gargantuan subdivision. He has told me that someone developed a large tract of land for a type of rural subdivision with 10 acre lots. Mostly out of staters bought up the lots years ago and have done nothing with them.

That would be Sangre De Cristo Ranches, an off shoot of Trinchera ranch. Forbes sold off a section in the 70s, the northeast part by 160 is Forbes Park which has no hunting (and lots of elk), and the southern part which is Sangre De Cristo ranches is the "poor mans" Forbes Park. There are elk there but it get hits hard by the locals in San Luis and Ft Garland who go up there whenever they want even though it is "private" and hunt, shoot, poach.

My buddy lives there, and is building a house in the mountains. Lots of vacant lots/trailers, from the valley floor up to 9000 feet in the mountains. Pretty cool place.
