thinking of moving to Colorado
Hey all so looks like I might be moving into the Denver area. I was looking up some of the weapon laws and I was hoping someone could give me details about the assault weapon law that I keep seeing. Something about not being able to have a magazine that holds over 20 rounds? So I gotta ditch all my 30rd AR mags? Also are there any specifics about CCW laws I should know? Also I couldnt find if CO is a must inform a LEO if asked. thanks!
The "high cap" mag ban is Denver City and County only, all the surrounding metro area is good to go. CCW is shall issue.
Pretty cool state for guns. No registration. CCW (called CHP here) is a 4 hour class and application at the Sheriff's Dept.
The high capacity magazine ban isn't anything to worry about. I lived in Denver proper and never had any issues. I even had DPD clear my home once and comment in my are afterwards
What everybody else said. And yes, you have to tell police you're armed IF HE ASKS. No obligation to volunteer it otherwise.
About the other thread: Military can carry whatever they carry in the course of their duties, as long as they're actually in the performance of their duties when doing so. State law doesn't differentiate between retired or "off-duty" military personnel and the general public.
CO is GTG!
Get out here. We need the votes!

+1. Now if only we could change the PRB, or boulder county as a whole. Louisville/Superior made me lose faith in humanity when I lived there.

Sorry guys as I'm down south near the gunsmithing school in Trinidad. I can't help there with changing Boulder. In fact, I want to avoid the place as it sounds very much like the SF Bay Area. I've a lifetime of libtards who despite proclaiming their progressive stance, are the most closed minded and bigoted people I've met.
Down where I'm at everyone in this area has CCWs and they were urging me to apply. I just did the other day. The man who instructed me is a former LE officer. He warned me about the absence of LE in the area and when I went to the sheriff's office to apply, I learned that there are only two deputies on duty at any given time to cover 5,000 sq miles of the county.
Colorado is GREAT!

No more Californicators if they're libtards! Stay away!

Hey - not that rare - I consider myself a politcal refugee from the People Republic of CA, born and raised.
But I also lay claim to Colorado as my dad grew up in Colorado Springs and my parents were married in Lyons CO (outside Boulder, kinda) but Uncle Sam dropped a draft notice in the mail 5 weeks after they were married and they never made it back.
I fought the good fight in CA until a tactical retreat seemed the best course of action. I left the domesticated west for the western free zone... Not sure if its the sea air that rots there brains or what... but desert winds are good for the soul.

Tactical retreat..
Well, welcome back home man!
Guess I should have mentioned... I moved here in 03/88.
It was a different world here back then.
Stop at a 7-11 for gas, and you just pump it, walk in and you could pay via personal check without being ask for ID.
Summer nights I used to leave the back door open all night, - only had one intruder when the screen wasn't latched - the cat from next door.
Pre-Brady we had great gunshows...
Now I'm feelin a bit old.
I came here in '76, tell me about it.

I'm sure real old timers would say the same of Colorado long before I got here, though...
Back in '76 we had numerous gun stores in San Francisco. The city even operated a public shooting range. The military had a strong presence too. Now it's all gone.
Ex-Californicator here....blah....I hate saying that. It was not by choice however, as I was born there and raised there. I left when I graduated HS. Been tied to CO ever since. For me CO feels like home, and I do NOT vote with the libtards. I am not here to take over and make CO a CA clone. My wife is the same way, and we are raising 2 sons to be the same (hopefully). I do however miss the "Don't Californicate Colorado" bumper stickers....oh and I hate the Red Wings....
