Can anyone recommend a good FFL (transfer dealer) around Colorado Springs?

I sold a pistol to a Colorado member, but I'm having a little trouble with the receiving dealer (Shooting Den Inc., 420 W Fillmore, Colorado Springs, CO, 80907). They refuse to accept firearms from non-FFL holders. I offered to send copies of my driver's license, and CCW license, but this guy still refuses to accept the pistol & do the transfer (he says it's a local law?).

TIA, for any help guys.

I'm not sure about transfer laws, but will ask for you Wilson.
I'll also post on our 'Colorado AR15 Shooters' site for info.
We'll get you hooked up

Shooting Den sucks, Earl Hickman is good for Transfers, under Hickman Rifles in the phone book.

Hey Wilson,

The feedback I've gotten is to go with another FFL and you'll have no troubles.
Check out Earl Hickman like rtr suggested.

Hickman Rifles
(719) 633 - 4680
411 Tia Juana
Colorado Springs, CO. 80909

I just tried to call him (12:45pm), but didn't get an answer.
He's closed on Mondays as well.

Later,
Kyle

Thanks WillysWagon & rtr, that'll work (I hope)!

I spent a whole bunch of years in Colorado Springs (Fort Carson) and just remembered what I miss most besides the really big burm. The people.

Wilson,

I would heartily second the nod for Hickman's. I've done a couple of transfers through them without any problems. If you call them, ask to speak to Earl (Hickman). He'll make sure you have all the info you need before you hang up.

Wilson,

Another option is Voelker Research at Union and Academy.

Voelker Research
5026 North Academy Blvd
Colorado Springs, CO 80918-1418
USA

Telephone Numbers:
Main: (719) 528-5596
Fax: (719) 528-5598

I've also done transfers with Hickmans. They are a great bunch of guys. I believe he will do multiple transfers on the same form for $25

Voelker charges $20 for the first and $10 for each extra one.

Both places will accept transfers from individuals unlike Shootin Den.

I hate the Shooting Den guys. Every time I went in there I felt like it was an inconvenience for them to take my money.

Good luck

+1 for Earl Hickman.
He's a good guy i've done a couple transfers with him and can't see any reason to find someone else. He's always been extremely customer oriented.

+1 on Voelker Research. Ask for Rich. He's the FFL guy. The front of the store is Apple/Macintosh computer retail. He does the FFL transfer in his office. I have done a few through him with no problems. He's there atleast Mon-Fri. but not sure on the weekends. Faxed FFL is ok with him and he accepts from private individuals.

Thank you for the suggestions Kyle, rtr, and everyone!

I ended up using Hickman Rifles (only because that was the first place mentioned). Everything went so smoothly with (Kimberly at) Hickmam that there was no reason to look any further. What a great bunch of people - they're really on the ball, and they made sure everything worked out absolutely perfect!

Thanks again (I owe you guys one!), Erik
