Things to do in Spokane.....
Looking for some fun things to do in Spokane. I might be moving there soon. Good places to eat, hiking trails, local attractions, etc etc.
Drive to Idaho. Thats about the only worthwhile thing I ever did when I was in Spokane.

While you are in Idaho go to Black Sheep Sporting Goods in Coeur d'Alene. You will thank me.
Afterwards, when you come back to Spokane go to Northwest Pawn & Collector Arms on Pines.
For dinner I would recommend Tomato Street for good Italian food, go to Flaming Joes if you like wings.
As far as things to do, if you like skiing/snowboarding Spokane is within a 90 minute drive of 4 pretty good and 1 OK ski hills. In the summer if you like hiking and/or mountain biking there are lots of really good choices (Beacon Hill, Mt. Spokane, Canfield in Coeur d'Alene)

Food:
Mexican - Tacos Tumbras on Sprague in the Valley
Wings - Flamin' Joes Sprague (and also Division up north)
Garlic... I mean Greek/Mediteranean - West Wing on the South Hill
Grill your own - (Butcher shop) Egger's I'm in the Valley, so University & Sprague, but there's another one on 57th on the South Hill (pretty much - if they sell it, they make it - smoked bacon, pepperoni, beef jerky, Kansas City bacon, pork sausage, smoked German sausage...
Sandwiches - High Nooner on Pines in the Valley, and Casey's Place on Sprague across from Target
Gun shops -
Northwest Pawn & Collector Arms
Double Eagle 1 on Sprague and another shop in Deer Park - about an hour north of town.
All American Arms on Trent
Hiking trails -
Centennial Trail runs from Riverside State Park to CDA. I like the section between Pines or Sullivan and Flora. Nice park at Maribou - by the valley mall
Dishman Hills wild area - go crazy with trails
Liberty Lake county park (Liberty Lake area)
Mt Spokane if you want to go a little higher in elevation
That's about all I can think of off hand.

Yeah, we should go hit the range sometime. Do you have a shop somewhere?

Forgot to mention The White Elephant under gun shops. Hit'em both - in the Valley on Sprague, and on Division.
There are about a dozen wineries in (or close to ) town, too.
There's a PF Chang's downtown, and several other good Chinese places around town. The one we like is on the South Hill - China Cafe or something like that and have heard good reviews about Gordy's... yeah, I know, doesn't sound very Chinese, but the food is good (so I've been told by several people - I'm just deployed, so haven't eaten there yet) Peking North is good, too.
Burgers... Five Guys Sprague & Sullivan and on 29th on the South Hill. We also like D'Lish's Burgers on Division. And if you want a gut bomb - Zip's is pretty much all over town, just pick one.
BBQ - Chicken N' Mo, downtown on Sprague :-) Longhorn is OK, but nothing to write home about.
If you like cheese... there's a cheese shop downtown - Saunder's Cheese Market. Good selection. Or just get a can of Cougar Gold from Egger's. :-)
Since you may be headed to CDA for the Black Sheep Sporting Goods, I recommend a stop at the Post Falls liquor dispensary. That alone might pay for your gas to drive to PF. Just sayin'...

Nothing wrong with that. I do most of my business with home shops anyways.

My opinions as follows: Seriously, do yourself a favor and don't. The weather sucks there and the consensus of all my family members that have lived there is that "Spokane is a creepy little town". In addition, we recently heard that "certain cities" on the wet side send many of their child molesters to the Spokane area, on a one way bus ride ticket, once they get out of jail. Not cool. I would live in south eastern WA, wet side WA or OR, Idaho, Montana, before I would move to Spokane. Much better cities around. Spokane is lame.
There's an old turn of the century (19th-20th) hotel downtown that has been meticulously restored. I can't think of the name of it right now. The bar is worth going into just to have a drink and look at the restoration. The restaurant wasn't too shabby either.
If the tram at the 1974 expo site is running, that's worth the ride.

That's the Davenport Hotel. Probably one of the nicest hotels in the whole state. It is worth seeing.

I have to agree. The best thing about Spokane is the drive
out of town ....
I always love how people who don't even live in Spokane comment in these threads. That's be like me commenting on things to do in Tacoma.

+1, while I don't live there now, I still get over there quite allot, I'm actually thinking of getting a place there. One question though, say I find a great gun to buy in Idaho do I have to have it sent to my ffl in wa?

Thanks didnt know, nothing in mind yet, but you know when your looking and see somethng you have to have

Wow... So many horrible misconceptions. Anyways, my list.
Best steak in town (you're gonna pay for it): Churchill's - Downtown
Local sandwich joint: Domini's - Downtown
Local pizza: David's Pizza - Close to Downtown, by Memorial Arena
Local booze: Dry Fly - GU District (definitely can buy in there)
Local beer: Northern Lights Brewery - Right nextdoor to Dry Fly
Local burger: Dick's - Downtown or D'Lishs - South side of Division
Little more outside the box...
Indian food: Taste of India - Division hill
Korean: House of Seoul - Airway Heights
Local attractions.
Depending on the sport season: Chiefs (Hockey), Indians (Baseball) and The Shock (Arena Football).
Depending on time of year: Hoopfest (largest 3on3 basketball tournament in the world, takes up most of downtown), Bloomsday (one of the largest road races with more than 40,000 runners every year since the 80s), Pigout in the Park (4/5 days of nothing but food vendors filling Riverfront Park)
As far as hiking and outdoors... You are picking a good spot. You can go in any direction and end up hiking somewhere new. Plenty of hunting, tons of lakes, great winter activities. If you are REALLY into hiking, we are well under 5 hours from Glacier National Park in Montana which IMO is the most beautiful place in the world.

Spokane is a great town, but the wet side does send chimos, felons and the homeless over.

This for sure, they have quite a few "housed" over here where their time is less than a year.
Looks like I'll be visiting for the 1st weekend in May. Thanks to all who've contributed to this thread!
