 Search of "local" gunsmith.....

With the closing of "The Shooters Supply" in Yakima, WA, a few years back (okay, more then a few), a local gunsmith (to my knowledge) is not available. Yes, I hear of "rumors" of people doing things out of their house, but usually that's only for close friends or what....

Does anyone know of any actual walk in gunsmiths in the "area"- as in Ellensburg or the Tri Cities (Richland, W. Richland, Pasco, Kennewick)? Ones that have a store front (not call for appointment, unless they are TRUE gunsmiths). I'm planning on having a few barrels fitted for my Para 1911's.... projects.

Thanks in advance.

Well, there is supposedly one at Hole in the wall. I have never seen a gunsmith in there though.

Do your self a favor and call JD (James Thomas) from High Speed Shooting Systems. He is out of Yakima, and he does not have a store front. He is top notch and does work for the Gov. and even has a following in the precision rifle community which includes my self.

Here is his cell phone number, tell him Ryan sent ya 509-945-6623

They do have one at Hole in the Wall, I saw him there last week. I don't know anything about his work and I haven't heard of anything either. I'd go with Hunter121's advise and use JD out if Yakima.

If you're serious about getting your 1911's done right, Dave at Southridge Arms is spot on! I know he's on the wet side of the state, but his work is impeccable.

I would recommend JD too, but don't know if he does 1911. He's currently working on my Rem 700.
