Need a place to live outside of Philly...any recommendations?
This isnt for me, its for the sister in law. She's escaping California to a job in Philadelphia. She wants a place thats 20-30 min outside of Philly and close to Maryland. So somewhere south of Philly and near 95 would be ideal. My wife plans to drive up to visit her frequently so as close to MD is best, but still within working distance of Philly is required. She and her husband are both doctors so they can afford (and they want) a nice area to live. Any recommendations?
Have her look on the Main Line. Easy train service and you can drive to town (non-rush hour) in about 20-30 minutes.
Main Line Explained
Look under the Towns Tab for towns that would be appropriate
Swarthmore, Wallingford, or Media. The first two are very close to I 95 and the airport.
Stay out of Southern Delaware Co.
I am in Wynnewood, (Lower Merion),. Homes are pricey in this area. Lowest taxes are in Broomall and Newtown Square isn't bad either. My wife and I hope to down size in the near future and we are looking at Broomall and Newtown Square.

I lived in Media for a year... pretty cool place and close to the city!!
bensalem is a nice area
Chadds Ford area is nice, but less convenient than the Main Line and Swarthmore if they take the train.
Thank you all for the help I will research these places and forward to my sister in law
I work in Media at the courthouse...I think it is a really a neat little town. Lots of neat shops and some good restaurants. From Media you jump on 476 South and within a few minutes you are on I95 South heading to Maryland.
With doctor's salaries...they can find a very nice home in the Media area. They have lots on nice new townhouses in the area as well.
