Garage Door 2 - converting a carport
The Garage Door thread made me think to bring up a related question - have any of you converted a carport into a garage? I am in Tucson and I have been thinking of doing so, but one possible limiting factor is there is a load-bearing beam running across the carport little more than 6 feet from the opening - the clearance from the concrete to the bottom of that beam is 78".
Does that even seem workable? I am wondering how many inches a garage door needs for clearance.
How deep is the carport? When I looked at houses w/ carports most were too short to properly convert. You could fit a car in, but would not have room to walk around it.
