Which roads NOT to take to the Cincinnati Zoo?
Son (19) and daughter (13) are headed to the zoo tomorrow, coming from south of Dayton. One route Google shows is exiting I75 at Mitchell then south on Vine. I know the zoo is not in the best part of town so I need to get them there and back safely. What do the Cincinnati members have to say about what roads to avoid/use?
The GPS directions sound fine. Most of the bad areas encircle the zoo,so there isn't really a way to avoid those areas. I would suggest paying the fee and parking in the zoo parking lots. The on street parking is right smack in the hood, and usually broken auto glass can be found on the side walks.
Born and raised in Cincinnati, recently moved to Colorado. I used to visit the zoo twice a year, you will not be disappointed.
I went there with my wife and 2 sons, both over 10. Get out before 5. Vine street gets interesting the later it gets.
It's not bad there they will be fine, just tell them don't feed the homeless off the Mitchell exit.
First off it's not that bad. Probably would not want to spend the night in a parking lot there but the day time is fine. Me and my wife go about 2-3 times a month. The way you listed is fine another route is
Take 71 south
Take Taft exit(#3) right turn only
right on the first rd and fallow the signs.
Thanks guys. They decided on their own to go to the Columbus Zoo instead. I didn't find that out until I called them about noon.
