Fraudulent charges!
Back in December I had a charge on my debit card from Great Britain, so got new card and charges taken care of. Now less than two months later I have charges from Spain!!! Started at $7 then $100 somthin, and over $600, yeah I'm getting all that taken care of but I am tired of this. But after the first time I watched what I bought online. Someone told me bout Life Lock? Does that just dal with identity left? Or will it stop out of the norm charges too. How much does Life Lock cost? Should I close that account and start new one, choose a new bank? Any advice would be greatly appreciated this has slowed some toys down

Close that account and open another one. That is the best way to handle this type of situation. Now that your number is out there, the false charges will never stop on that card until you close it.

I surprised your bank didn't close or suggest closing the account and opening a different one the first go around. Especially since you were hit several times with increasing amounts in a short period of time, it's not like it was a one time, small amount that was easy to clear up. Doesn't make sense to keep the same account number and hope for the best IMO.

I mentioned Life Lock to you, Miker.
$15 a month. They will monitor your current accounts, and prevent any others to be opened w/ out your approval. Also, it watches your credit score. They would spend up to 1 million to help fix if someone steals your identity.
The peace of mind is well worth it...
Close account and don't use a debit card ever again. Most banks are pretty good these days with reversing the charges and utting money back into your account but you can't count on it.
What if someone empties your account and it takes the bank 5 days to put that money back in? You are SOL in the meantime. Now, say your credit card gets hit for 5k. You call, file a dispute and you are not out anything.
Yeah i just got a new card, i didn't know they could get my account number from debit card, but i'll be closing it and looking into life lock

So just get a credit card then?
Just do what I did. Go to either cvs or walgreens and get a green dot visa reloadable card. you can put up to $500 a day on it and total of $3000 i think. when i want to use it online to pay bills, amazon or buy wherever i stop by walgreens and put money on card, in about an hour the money is available for me to spend and i get online to do what i want. they charge 5 bucks to put money on, 6 or 8 bucks a month.
maybe not the cheapest way to go but NOBODY gets my card linked to my checking account or my regular visa card. They can't steal it if it aint there!!!!!!

seems like a huge waste of money. Debit cards are the only thing linked to your account. Credit cards are not.
If you really want a limited card and do it for free. go to your bank and set up another checking account. use that account for on-line purchases and only keep a balance in it that you are comfortable with. Make sure the bank doesn't set overdraft protection on that account and don't allow any charges over the amount in the account.
To answer the OP. the best thing to do is to get in the habit of checking your bank account on-line every other day or so and keep an eye on charges. it's kinda a pain, but only takes a few seconds. that way you can stop it at the first or second transaction. i do this after getting hit with the same fraudulent activity you did.

This is pretty standard. Someone gets your numbers and hits for a few dollars. An ITunes track is very common. When that's approved, a somewhat larger hit, then the big scores. Generally stripping the account happens in under a week. The Spanish addy may have been just a mail forwarder, and the ultimate receiver of the stuff is really your next door neighbor. Or a Nigerian prince.
Close account and don't use a debit card ever again.
WHY not use a Debit card??? Oww you must work for a credit card company!!!
As long as your using a Master or Visa debit card your bank will take care of the theft. I just went threw this last weekend with my master card. The local Bar & grill is where I used it at. A 20 something kitchen help kid swipped the numbers off the nightly report. He hit the card( for I-tunes) for $1.00 then 3x $99.99, then tried again for another $99.99. And that was denied. And the card was put on hold. All total was 800.00+ in bullshit. I called my bank's 24-7 help line last Sunday morning.(Huntington) had the hole thing fixed by noon Tue. Only because last Monday was a holiday. All it took was 10 mins to fill out some paper work and the bank officer to make a call AND IT WAS FIXED. 100% free of charge.
