February 5th Black Swamp Carbine Shoot
Shooters, we will be utilizing the clubhouse for the February gathering.
Items on tap at this point;
We will be having a potluck, we will provide the meat and cheese plus bread and condiments. I ask that you e-mail me if you are 1. planning to attend and 2. able to contribute to the meal.
Other items for the day.
Our very own Steve from ADCO will build an AR from just parts. If you have never done this, tips from a pro like Steve can be invaluable. In addition if you wish to put your own together and need parts / tools etc please let us know. I think

those items may be available at a reasonable rate.
We will do knife drills so bring your stabber and if you have a traininer please bring it along.
There will be extensive drills for both rifle and pistol. Things like transitions, manipulations, footwork and general manipulations will be covered.
If I get it in time, we will watch some of the Magpul Dynamics Precision Rifle DVD.
Do not blow this one off since we aren't shooting. I personally guarantee you will get a lot out of this day. As an added bonus we will not be collecting a shoot fee this day.
Remember, absolutely no ammo allowed in the clubhouse. We will check and double check before we triple check this.

I hope it falls on my day off. Even though I've put many AR Rifles together, a pro like Steve is sure it have easier and better ways to do it.

I hope to pick up some pointers as well. It will be a good time.

I'm still questionable for that day, but if I can make it, I figured I could bring some brownies or cookies or something else along those lines.

How about a half inside and half day shooting? Weather is predicted as mid 30s and sunny.

If you need to heat something up please come a little early. I plan on arriving about 11am.
Loose order if events.
Gather and BS until Noon.
Food and drinks.
AR lower building exercise.

If you are compelled and just have to shoot a few rounds, the ranges are open after we are done. The BSC event will conclude around 4 pm. We shoot as a group again in March.
I need to start coming to a few of these, so I can actually use and learn how to shoot the 6920 that just sits in my safe and collects dust. Hopefully this March I can make one.
If you are new to the platforms February will be a great time for learning with no pressure. FYI

Driftwwood, Multi-G said it like it is. Now is the time to learn to handle not just your rifle or pistol, but more along the likes of body placement and control of firearms.
I just realized that's SuperBowl Sunday... Yeah, I'm not a football fan obviously or I would have realized it sooner. However, my Wife is a HUGE football fan. I doubt I'll be able to (safely) get away... :-(
Yep. That's the breaks. There's always a conflict somehow.

Usually she needs me for setting up for pre-game party, etc. I was able to get special Wifely permission to go out and play this time though. :-) I just need to make sure I get home back before the game itself.

I'd pad for about 5 more folks whose names I dont know who were in the shop and said they were coming.
I do have a small pad but not that many.

Yeah. That was GOOD stuff!!
Great job by Steve, Dave, and Jeremy on the Black Swamp gathering for February and for that matter year round. I don't think that most people have any idea what goes into putting on an event like this. It is always a good time at the shoots and I always learn at least one thing. I really enjoyed learning about the STG44 and the Bren.
I agree with the above comments.
And yeah the STG 44 is what it is all about !

This was my first time at Black Swamp and had a great time. Loved learning about the Bren and the STG44 monster. Met a lot of great guys and ate some great food. I will be back soon.
And remember, 1.2.3.4.5.6.7.8.9.10.11.12. I won't forget it.
A most excellent way to start off the year. All the sessions were really good, I just can't say enough about how great it is to have people willing to share that kind of knowledge! Going somewhat back to basics on the carbine manipulation was especially helpful to me. Things I should have known, but apparently just missed or forgot over time... And next time I'm at a "tavern" talking with somebody, I'll be especially watchful for people sneaking around, ready to "11" me from behind someone else. :-)
