Loaded magazine still equal loaded rifle?
I will be traveling through Ohio with my AR. Do you still have the issue with a loaded mag being considered a loaded rifle?
Thanks

Last I heard still in effect
Yes a loaded AR or any rifle mag is considered a loaded weapon. Still is law and doesn't look like its going to be changing, or addressed any time soon.
Yes, loaded mag = loaded rifle.
However, wouldn' safe-passage laws allow this?
If it's legal in the state you depart and your detination (and you make no unecessary stops in Ohio) then I think yu would be OK.
I'm pretty sure your wrong on the safe passage.
It is absolutely legal to transport the rifle thru Ohio.
It is illegal to transport the rifle thru Ohio loaded. Unless you have a CHL and an AR15 pistol in the car.

Chuck, i'm not sure that AR-Pistol thing will fly. I sure wouldn't want a rifle in the vechicle also. As I'm sure you would get a "PINCH"
Sending a email to get the answer.
But im 100% sure about having a rifle and load mag. I'm 100% sure you'll get a one way trip to the gray bar motel
Maybe. Maybe not. I'm not pushing the idea. Nor do I know of any cases involving a "loaded" rifle in the vehicle merely due to the presence of loaded magazines. Does give the SKS new appeal as loaded clips don't count, only loaded magazines and speed loaders.
Wisconsin, the 49th State to allow concealed carry got it right. Loaded = round in the chamber or cylinder (not mere in the magazine).

Loaded magazine for a rifle is a no go.
Ohio laws
scroll down to the bottom, Section K, part 5a.
I would really like to see this law get shit canned in the next bill we try to get through. That and the "machinegun" 31+ rd mags.

Not worth it. Why try?

Amen brother.
We all know how dumb this poorly worded law is here in our state saying that we can't have a rifle plus loaded mags in our vehicle, even if we have our conceal carry permit. I was wondering has anyone actually been charged and found guilty of having a rifle plus load mags in there car whether they did or didn't have their conceal carry permit?
Kind of like has anyone been charged for having an evil fully auto here in Ohio just because say they had a drum for their AR that held more than 31 rounds?

There is a member here who is a prosecuting attorney and has taken 31+ mag charges to trial (he didn't want to do it, powers that be and all)

What ever came of the trial? Is there a link to a past discussion on this.
Thanks
