Coming to Cincinnati (well Mason !!)
Hi Guys
I am based in the UK & will be visiting 'non-shooting' folks from October 23rd to October 30th in Mason OH
In the days before our pistol 'ban' (1997) over here in the UK I was a keen pistol shooter & now I shoot Marlin leverguns (mostly) in 357, 44 & 45LC and also play around with a Sabre AR15 in 223/5.56 - but different to you guys - we are not allowed to have them semi-auto :(
Stupidly though I CAN (and DO) have a Beta C 100 round mag without question (and a silencer/moderator) - but who wants to charge the damn thing after every shot 100 times ......!!
Is there anywhere (within a sensible drive of Mason that I can get some shooting in - pistol or rifle - when we over in your neck of the woods
Last time I came - I managed to get some range time at Target World @ 2300 East Kemper Road Cincinnati, Ohio 45241
Is that still the best option for me - or is there anywhere else I could try
Also where else other than Target World can I go & look at all the nice toys I can't have any more !!
Thanking you in advance !!
Roy

Taget world is still about your only choice of ranges inside or close to the 276 loop and that rent guns. (that I have found anyways. ) it is also about the biggest selection of firearms you will find in cincinnati. But it does have the crappiest service and highest prices. You might check and see if bill goodmans gun show is in town that weekend it's basically down the street from target world. It's not a great show but can kill some time there
Hi bimmertech87
Thanks for the heads-up on Bill Goodmans show ................. but sadly for me ........ it is THIS weekend the 8th & 9th - so we (sorry I) will miss it :(
Looks like a couple of runs to Target World in the week we are out there will feed my needs until I can get out to the US again next year then...................
Had an opportunity to go to Texas (San Antonio) a month back & stupidly passed it up - guess I would have managed some shooting there had I gone !
(Mind you most of the guys seemed to be fighting fires - so maybe not !!)
Thanks for your information
Roy
.
I live close to Mason. If you want to shoot some firearms I would be willing to potentially bring some stuff down to Target world and let you folks have a go, as long as you help cover ammo. I'm just starting to be able to get around after ankle surgery and would love to go shoot something (I have a SCAR 17s that I haven't been able to shoot yet because of my ankle

). Send me a PM if you're interested and I'll give you a list of what I've got that can be shot at Target World.
Hey Roy,
I'm in Warren County, just up the road from Mason. My scheduled days off that week are 26th, 27th and 28th. I'd be happy to show you around a bit and go bust some caps while you're here. Geezah (one of you britishy types who lives here now) is just up the road in Greene County too.
ETA: We could run up to the club where I shoot, or even hit Spring Valley (public range). Hell, maybe we could get the crew together and hit the Kilt while you're here.

I think getting together with an ARFCOMer from across the pond would be cool.
Hi All !!
Many thanks for the responses

thats real nice of you !
I'll check with the rest of the family to confirm what the plans are & find out how much time I can get away for & come back to you !!
......... and to the guys that said Target World is expensive ......................... over here in the (rip off) UK we are paying (the equivalent) of about $45/thousand for primers & about $45 a tub for reloading powders
A Marlin Cowboy retails (full) at about $1600 and gasoline probably costs us about the equivalent of $6 US gallon !!
Speak again when I know what the family plans are ................................ just heard mention of Disney on Ice at rhe USB arena - that will get in the way of something I know !!
Need to track myself down an Ohio ARFCOM T shirt so I can display it on the range over here too !! (got a couple of nice HArley shirts from Aces n Eights (gone now I understand!!

) on a previous trip I run a Softail Classic ............... and NO ...... for Gods sake DO NOT ask how much either the bike was or spares over here !!!!!
Regards
Roy

They Are,and a cool group of guys plus cool new Cincinnati area T-shirt's
I plan on going to spring valley on the 26th or 27th. It would be great to meet up with everybody.
Hi Roy,
I'm an ex-pat, originally from West London and moved here 15yrs ago. I'd be more than willing to get you down the range. I could also see if one of my mates from Manchester might be interested in going to Spring Valley.
Let me know if you up for it, shoot me a PM and I'll give you my digits....
Sheldon
P.S. Those that know me here can vouch for me.
I live 10 minutes from mason off 42. If you go to target world, I highly recommend renting the MP5. I think it's around $30 and includes a box of ammo (you'll burn through it in seconds)
Hi Guys
Well we came to Mason ...................... tried to eat all your food & buy out all your shops & failed miserably !
We had a great time & the leaf & tree colours (thats how we spell it in the UK !!) were fantastic ......... definately
'Designer Shades'
Just want to thank everyone that replied to the thread for their offers of hospitality - but with the family committments - I only managed one measly hour @ Target World in the end
I did manage to put quite few rounds through a variety of Glocks, Rugers & S&W (all of which I used to own here in the UK pre 1997 ........) brought back some memories & gave me a 'fix' !!
Prices as you all mentioned were dearer than when I shot there last visit - but can you put a price on 'Happy' ............

WE didn't even get to the new shop that opened the weekend we arrived - I understood he was appointments only & I mailed him - but got no reply - hope he did well with the opening !!
Hope all your Halloweens went well - we spent most of it either flying back to the UK - or sitting waiting for planes due to the Air Crew strikes in Europe !! (that will teach me to book directly with Delta next time & not Air France !)
Once again - thanks to all of you for the offers of hospitality & I'll get in early & say 'Happy Thanksgiving' !!!!
Regards
Roy

PS - those Corn Stalkers at Kings Island frightened the cr*p out of me !!!!!!
