Ammo Bros is about 3 miles from Turners, 15969 Piuma Ave in Cerritos, south of Alondra just west of the 605 fwy. They have a pretty good selection of safes.

Up here the AAA mini storage has 40-50 safes. Look through the yellow book mini storage adds. They will list if they carry safes in the add.

Many safes are manufactured in the LA area so they're cheaper there than many places as shipping 850 pounds can be expensive.

Costco had some Winchester brand safes, no idea if they are American made, but they are pretty cheap.

Tractor Supply, if you have one near you, has a couple nice safes.

Southland Safe in Corona, Ca. They carry Cannon Safes and you can see them in their shop. What sold me was the warranty. They fix or replace it no matter if it was due to fire, theft, flood, etc. If they cannot fix it at your home they send it back to their factory and you do not pay shipping either way. They look nice also which is a plus. I already need a second or larger safe since the collection keeps on growing.

I got mine from Sportsmans Steel Safes some years ago. They are still located on Paramount Blvd in Long Beach. Good quality and reasonable prices. I live not far from there (worked abut two blocks away at the time). They delivered. Not sure if they still do.

I have a sportsmans safe and have had it for about 15 years. Bought it off their showroom floor. While the quality of the safe is fine their sales practices are not as good. Seems they have a habit of the salesperson quoting you one price and then they turn you over to the sales manager to write you up and suddenly the price is higher than the sales person quoted. After arguing about the price I got it for what the sales person said but I will never go back to them. The same "sales manager" even called me a few days later at home saying I owed them money.

Not exactly stand up customer service and I am not the only one they tried that stunt on from what I have read over the years.

So if they have what you want and you get it for the price you want then great but just watch out for their games.

Didn't see these mentioned yet.

They ship out of the L.A. area so you can probably pick it up. I bought one eight or so years ago, good safe.

THIS!!! Warning about Sportsman Steel Safe Company

Here is my experiance. I was at the L.A fairgrounds gun show, before the city council closed it down.
I was interested in a "Special Forces" safe, that they had at the show. The lady I was discussing the safe with, told me that she was the owners wife. She told me the price of the safe, and we discussed the delivery of the safe to my home.

She then introduced me to one of her helpers, who" would write up the bill of sale". She then went over to another customer. After she left, the man she just intoduced me to, told me "the price she gave you is wrong, it is actually...(a lot more..$100?? don't remember, but it was NOT an insignificant amount). I said, "the owners wife doesn't know the price"? I was incredulous about his statement. He stuck to it...the owners wife "had quoted me a wrong price".

I turned and approached the owners wife, her back was to me, as she was speaking to that other customer. As I patiantly waited, she ignored me completely....I left, recognizing this as deleberate behavior on their part.

Three months later, at the same location, I approached, and stayed silent about my earlier experiance. I began discussing the same safe / delivery, with a man who told me "I am the owners son".
EXACTLY what happened three months prior with his mom, happened again! Son turns me over to someone else, who says "the price you were told is wrong". Son goes to another customer, his back to me...And yes, I again left, for the same reasons!

Many months later, I go over to their shop. Discuss the same safe with a sales person. An oafish man, sitting behind a desk, whos behavior could only come from an owner, is commenting to the salesman, "sell the man a safe"! With continuing, oafish, running commentary, inspite of the glares from the salesperson, and the rudeness to me, the customer.

During the tour of the facility, and seeing MANY safes close to construction completion, and being told the speed at which the safes came "ready for sale", and knowing the deceitfullness of the prior mentioned mom and son, I decided to, again try to make a purchase.

What I did was to take the salesman, to the same "Special Forces" safe on the floor, that we had been discussing. And touching it, I said, "I will purchase THIS safe. I will be back in one and a half hours or less, with a U-Haul rental truck and will pick it up".

Salesman said "we can't sell you THAT safe, it is our floor model"!. ...I pointed out the safes that were near completion, and his prior statement of when they would be finished...like in one - two days. All they have to do is to show potential customers the photos from the catalog, and the nearly completed safes,...A new sale to me, I pick it up...problem solved.

They wouldn't do that. I told them, "if I cannot take this safe, and pick it up in 1 1/2 hours or less, then I will not buy from you!....They would not sell me the floor model safe. I suspected dishonesty on their parts.

A friend of mine, knew of a coworker who had purchased a Sportsman Safe,....Sportsman CONSTANTLY lied about the date of delivery. The safe was delivered many months after the delivery date promised at time of purchase. My friend had told me about this at the time of my first experiance at the L.A. Fairgrounds Gunshow. He was urging me to not deal with them, so I was well armed with all the knowlege I am presenting to you now, and nothing I tried to subvert their dishonesty, would work to get me the safe I wanted.

I would only buy a Sportsman Steel Safe from a private party who already has one, and wants to sell it. The people who run Sportsman are not trustworthy...Your experiance may vary.

Liberty makes some great safes, but they make some bottom of the line ones too which are pricier than their box store counterparts.

by far the best safe for the money. if you are spending anywhere near $1000 don't even look at anything else.
