Just searched all pages and didn't see this topic. I'm heading to Tampa in a couple of weeks and would love to hit a range during some down time. Any decent ranges over there? Indoor, Outdoor that doesn't require a membership? I'd be bringing my AR and a couple of hand guns.

For an indoor range in the Tampa area, there is Shoot Straight. If you don't mind a 45 minute drive, head down to the Manatee range. They have 1,000 yards and are cool about shooting any style that you want (standing, double taps, etc) as long as you are being safe. The Wyoming Antelope Club is right across the bridge in St Pete/Clearwater, but they used to have a one round at a time policy (I don't know if it is still in effect).

Wyoming Antelope Club allows more than one shot in magazine now.

Florida Firearms Academy is rifle pistol shotgun, and indoors. It might be open by May 18th.

Dade City Rod and Gun Club is a little out of the way from Tampa, but a good spot outdoors.

I'd avoid SS as they were pretty vocal against the open carry movement both in the media and political arenas. My vote goes to Manatee. Just watch out for the FL summer rain as it is outdoors.

www.wyomingatelopeclub,com is very anal about rapid fire unless
your shooting a idpa/ipsc match

www.hernandosportsmansclub is a beautiful range that on occasion
opens up their 200 meter range

I shoot cowboy and steel challenge matches at Wyoming, but avoid the range due to it being "rapid-fire unfriendly". I used to go to the range in Lakeland that was the same way, and it was extemely annoying. The last time we were there, my wife and I kept getting warned that we were shooting too fast; she was shooting a single action revolver...

Just a +1 for Dade City. I miss that range, the RO's were cool and the clubhouse was A/C'd. Haven't been there in about six years, though.

To my recollection, it was one employee of SS that spoke out against OC. And SS issued a statement denying that they opposed OC.

Lots of people have lots of reasons to not like SS, and I jumped all over SS when I'd heard their employee speak out against freedom. But he didn't do it as a representative of the company, so I hopped off my horse when things were explained better.

I'll mention Hernando Sportsmans Club, about 45 minutes north of Tampa.

I shoot at the 100 yard rifle lanes at SS when I want to sight in a rifle (no wind.)
I mostly shoot at the outdoor range at Dade City.
There's a range out in Lithia that is supposed to have a 400 yard section, and pretty laid-back operators. I need to check that one out.

There is also Teneroc in Lakeland, which has 100yds, and the county run range at Saddle Creek which also has 100yds and is pretty laid back. Saddle creek is only open (I think) Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday (I know for sure Saturday). Teneroc is a good range, but a couple of the range bosses can be, well I'll just say abrasive, and leave it at that.
