I have been trying to get more Diamondhead sights to sell, and I thought this notice on their sight was interesting:

The Diamondhead™ aperture and diamond aperture shape is a trademarked, proprietary and patent pending design owned by Dan Ballard and ShieldShot®, Ltd. Dan invented it in 2006. Since then, Dan has fitted the diamond aperture to various brands of folding and fixed battle sights. The design has been tested and used by many military and law enforcement units with outstanding results. In 2008, Dan Ballard contracted Troy Industries to make some folding sights for him using the proprietary diamond aperture in them. These were marked as ShieldShot®, Ltd. Diamondhead™ Sights and were sold by Dan Ballard directly.

For a short period, Troy Industries was permitted by Dan Ballard to produce diamond aperture sights with the Troy name on them. These Diamondhead™ sights were sold on the Troy website. Troy Industries ended their relationship with Dan Ballard in March of 2008. Shortly after, Dan started to work on his own sight design featuring his patent pending and proprietary diamond aperture.

In light of Troy’s recent claims that they have “redesigned the diamond sight” and are intending to release it shortly, Dan Ballard felt it was important to clarify to the industry that he has no affiliation with Troy Industries, and that neither Troy or anyone else is authorized to use his proprietary information, names or designs to copy his diamond shaped aperture.

Dan is also the inventor of the Mirror Sight and other innovative products for the tactical industry. Customer support of original inventors assures that other inventors will continue to develop new products to benefit the entire industry.

Dan Ballard’s new and innovative sights featuring the original diamond aperture are available at www.diamondheaddesigns.com. For more information email: sales@diamondheaddesigns.com

I primarily purchase these for a my classes in order to discount them for my students. I hope to have them again listed here soon so please check in with me.
I currently use one on my m4 with an Eotech 553 and I love it. I was initially skeptical because I have used the standard military type reticle effectively for a long time. Once I tried it I found it to be a practical improvement. I am an instructor and serious shooter. I have sent one to all of my buddies overseas and they appreciate them greatly. Its such a simple design I dont know why we didn't have this 30 yrs ago?

If I can answer any questions please feel free at schleism@att.net This is the quickest way to reach me.

Although it is not required there is a bonus for those that have the fixed A2 front sight. They offer a DiamondHead Front sight Hood that shields the sight from sun glare and accelerates snap shooting. .

I'm including their verbiage because they say it best. Their web page also has more info.

Why is the DiamondHead faster and more accurate shot after shot? Remember, rear sights are blurry during aiming. The simple fact is that it's easier for your eye to find the exact center of a blurry diamond than it is to find the exact center of a blurry circle (and it's even easier and quicker for your eye with the added posts at the corners of the diamond). Especially during high speed, high stress shooting, your eye needs reference points. The DiamondHead provides them.

The other main reason the DiamondHead sight is better than a round aperture is because round apertures don't give you a truly ROUND picture of the front sight and target. The front sight tower of your rifle obscures the bottom portion of the rear sight aperture. This causes the bottom part of the round aperture to be flattened - not round. The result is that it is hard for your eye to quickly make an accurate decision about how high up in this flattened circle is the exact center. Take a look at your own sights - you'll see what we mean. The 3:00 o'clock and 9:00 o'clock corners of the DiamondHead aperture completely eliminate this problem.

FEATURES:
-Dual same plane apertures (at exact height of factory sights)
-Combat durable
-Very low profile when folded down (less than ½" high)
-Fits MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail
-Locking system ensures sight stays up and zeroed during combat
-Stiff release button lets sight fold down
(and prevents accidental knock-down)
-Blackened Stainless Steel and MIL-SPEC
Type III Anodized Aluminum construction

Rear Folding Battle Sight
-Unique patent pending aperture design
-Total satisfaction guarantee - no questions asked.
The DiamondHead Sight's uniquely shaped apertures allow your eye to place the front sight post perfectly in the center of the rear aperture quicker and with greater precision. The sight picture is so robust that you can shoot with both eyes open in many scenarios, and you can shoot accurately at much longer distances with the large aperture than with conventional round apertures.

If this poster's low count is an issue, do not let it be.

I received my sight in the mail today.

David is a class act. His comms were prompt and useful. He answered my questions and provided verifiable contact information. Fast shipping was a plus.

While I cannot report on the sight as a user at this time, it is a Troy, quality item.

I am pleased with my purchase and the transaction.

Customer service from this guy is outstanding. There was a factory problem with my sight and David took up the cause and fixed the problem. I was never left wondering how to get the problem resolved. Very nice sight also.

Any chance of just getting the aperture? Will the aperture alone fit inside a normal Troy rear folding BUIS?
