Up for grabs is an Saginaw M1 carbine that was brought back from Vietnam by a GI. I got the carbine from the second owner, he related the story that the vet told him about how he acquired it. The vet said he found it stashed in a tree in South Vietnam and disassembled it and snuck it home in his duffle bag when he rotated back to the world.
This carbine does exhibit the type of patina/rust/wear that I would expect to see in a jungle used weapon. I have no way to prove that that is where this carbine came from BUT, I have personally examined several 100% legit Vietnam bringback weapons and this carbine shows the same type of wear. Personally I believe the story.
Overall the metal has a brown patina, the pictures make it look much more red than it really is. The bore is good but, there a few pits toward the muzzle but nothing major. The stock is SG and shows use and has scrapes and dings etc. It does have the SG cartouche on the right side but it is faint and doesn't photograph well. The balance of parts are from a variety of makers. There is a repaired crack going forward from the trigger housing area. It is internally repaired and is unnoticeable on the outside (I fixed it because I didn't want it to get any worse). The carbine should function just fine but, I never fired it.
I added the D-tip sling and the mag. The mag looks beat on the outside but, the spring and follower are NOS. Both are included.
I'm asking $600.00+shipping. This carbine is posted on other forums.
