Just had the rudest IM I have ever had on any website I've ever been on.

I am really ticked off and I am not sure if I should be or not. But this really rubbed me the wrong way. I have a barrel for sale on the M1A forum for $210 shipped.

I received this as an IM from KB7

**** "175 shipped for the socom barrel is what i can do by USPS MO"

So I responded back:

**** "I will think about it. I would go $200 right now, but I think any lower I would just have to think about it a while.&"

So KB7 responded back:

**** "ok well doesn't look like anyone is really beating down the door but whatever its you stuff good luck i hope i am still interested when you are done thinking about it"

Which I thought was very rude. So I resonded back:

**** " I don't know if you meant it this way, but that IM was very rude and condescending. If you really meant it that way, I would prefer not to do any business with you at any price."

Is it just me that takes offense to his IM? I think that was the most rude comment anyone has ever wrote me on the internet in my 1000's of dealings on gun boards. Maybe I'm over-reacting but dang that ticked me off!

I did not respond back rude in anyway for his offer, I just told him I would think about it. And then I get that comment back. What a jerk. If I was a moderator on this site, I might give him a time out to think about how to have some manners when you write IM's.

What do you guys think, am I over-reacting?

No, you're not over-reacting but it's typical in my experience. I've actually had people verbally attack me via IM after telling them that I have no iterest in trading for a wheelbarrow and 1/2 of my asking price for an item, etc.

It's what I consider typical of on line transactions when someone asks a lower price or wants to barter. Either people forget that they're really communicating with someone or just don't care. It's the telephone tough guy act. Simple solution. Tell em to get bent and click ignore.

If you think that is rude you must live a sheltered life.

That was crappy. Having to think about taking more than $10 off of $210 is kind of kooky.

You're over reacting. Ignore button is your friend.

Where is the ignore button? I don't see that one?

It would be in a post, not the IM.

Right about
. . . here .

Hmmm, didn't think about that. Anyways, once you do ignore them, they can't PM you.

But really, while it may be satisfying to respond to them the way you did, it is far easier to just delete the PM. Its not really worth it to get worked up over a lowball PM. Lol maybe you should have countered by raising the price?

I agree, lighten up. You ought to read my IM's

Internet forums, email and IM are all very impersonal forms of communication, you shouldn't take them personally.

I had one last night that sent me a low ball offer and then told me I had 15 minutes to get back to him after I read the message or the offer was no good.

Low baller and in a hurry, WTF?

Just stopping by to see what ky_bob was up to, but i'm glad to say my experiences have been pretty good. Think i've had mail lost or held by usps twice and people didn't even get bent then. Sorry you had a bad experience.

Now there's a term you don't hear everyday. And to associate it with Boers...almost hints at an educated man.

Lol, my dad had a Frederick Forsyth compilation book when I was little. The 3 books were Day of the Jackal, The Odessa File, and The Dogs of War. The idea of mercenaries in Africa fascinated me and I read a lot about it. For all of its past and present troubles, that place has had some fascinating history.

The books and the movies (even though some were pretty lame) from the period always fascinated me also. A few of the reasons I joined the Army to begin with and am still in.

I always enjoyed the books but I was just a kid. The only movie I saw was that lame ass Bruce Willis version.

Anyways, I know just enough about the subject to get me into trouble.

The offer was $35.00 less than the seller's sale price. The seller stated he'd sell at $200.00.

The buyer's a lowballer and should be ignored. Despise these people.
