 Ad stomping question

This is a theoretical question for now. I was wondering about an EE ad I saw where the seller advertised a used item as "unknown brand." I searched a bit and found that the item looked exactly as though it was from Brand XYZ, which happens to be a cheap brand with a poor reputation.

Am I permitted to post a reply, "That looks like Brand XYZ" or is that considered to be ad stomping?

I doubt that I would post such a reply, even if it was permitted. More likely, if I wanted to do something I would simply IM the seller. But I'm just curious about what is considered to be ad stomping.

Of course, any buyer who wants to know more about the item could do the same research that I have done.

"if I wanted to do something I would simply IM the seller"

this is your best option.just send a simple friendly im.
he can do what he chooses with the information you provide.

No, do not post such things in members ads, it will get you a warning for ad stomping.

You can do as elray says and contact the seller with a friendly "hey, I just wanted you to know that thingy is made by XYZ company and they're kind of cheap".

If you think the seller is trying to pull something on other members with his misleading ad then just click the report button and we'll handle it.

Thanks for the replies.

No, I have no reason to believe that the seller is trying to pull anything so I have no reason to report him. If I had to guess, I would guess that he's being completely honest. In fact, I think that the vast majority of people on the EE are honest –– or maybe I've just been lucky.

Even if a member is " trying to pull something " do not post in the ad. Hit the report button
