I keep getting conflicting info on shipping handguns in the USA. ONLY an FFL can ship USPS Priority Mail to an FFL, correct? MUST an individual ship Priority Overnight FedEx or UPS??? Where are the answers to the question: What is the best way for an individual to ship a handgun to an FFL? Thanks, H

Yes, only an FFL can use USPS to ship a handgun, an individual can only send long guns USPS no handguns. As for FedEx and UPS they have their own rules and regulations. I use FedEx so I'm familiar with their policies which are if sending a handgun it has to be sent Priority Overnight, no markings on the container/box should indicate that it's a firearm, you can not use a drop box to ship it and it must be disclosed that it's a firearms to the receiving FedEx employee.

Good read on FedEx policies...

Hope that helps.

FedEx wants 71 bucks for a 3 lb revolver shipped from NM to GA. Seems crazy. Might be cheaper to pay an FFL to ship it USPS Priority.... THANKS for the info.

It will be, I paid FedEx like 80 bucks to overnight ship a 1911 to Wisconsin, little pricey to say the least but I had to ship it and had no other way to get it there.

I recently found a local FFL that would have done it for less than half that (said probably around 30-35 bucks) through USPS.
