The EE doesn't work like that - In the EE your word is your bond. You committed to buy and I accepted. You can follow through on the deal or I can ask the EE mods to consider a -1 for your account.

Umm... I think that this is the part where you are suppose to say that I am going to be a man and honor my word.

That's up to you and xanadu. But if I have any input you're not getting out that easy (IOW, you're going to wear the reputation you've earned).
I'm tired of banning people, only to have them reappear days later with fresh, clean, untarnished reputations.

All banned welchers should have their full name and town and state posted on a certain page.

This way,when they come back with a new screen name and try to operate on the EE,honest members have access to their real names,not just a made-up screen name.

Another great idea would be for their IP address to be flagged,preventing them from signing on under a different name.

I totally disagree with this " catch & release " idea. Even if we tag him with Negs he can still create a new account to escape the Neg feedback. Mikeyp03 tells the seller and the Moderator to basically fuck off and he gets to stay on the sight and rub it in the sellers face not to mention the fact that it undermines me and all our Moderators. Mikeyp03 should receive what all welchers receive, A total site Ban.

Some day I'll get you to believe we (the EE crew) would be providing a more valuable service for members by actually USING the automated feedback system we've begged for ... for a decade.

Banning them is the real "catch & release". It forces them to sneak back in with a clean name,.. pretty much making us impotent. I think negative feedback could be our MOST powerful tool. If we ever start using it.

I do understand exactly what you mean when you say they may start new & untarnished accounts if they screw up their reputations. But banning them guarantees they'll do it. They always do. This is the largest 24/7/365 GunShow on Earth.
They'll simply reset their IP's, spend a few minutes learning how to use a proxy, use their Android, or any of the hundred other ways.

But they will be here - whether we ban 'em or not. When we're able to admit that to ourselves I believe auto-feedback will become an extremely useful tool.
Of course it'll never actually "protect" members from deadbeats, but I think it'll be a much more valuable resource, and it'll finally offer some degree of protection to the membership. At least more than it does now, where EVERYBODY has to have 100% perfect feedback,... or get banned.

We may all hate e-auction sites, but feedback / past history is one thing they got right.
