Worked out a trade on the golani/Galil he has posted. Agreed on meeting half way for a ftf .( we live 300 miles apart ) . After driving 2.5 hours and 154 miles he text me 10 minutes away from the agreed meeting spot that his truck wouldn't start and he wouldn't be there. If his truck wouldn't start he should have realized it 2.5 hours earlier since that is the time he would need to leave to meet me on time. I have emailes and text supporting all this.

Am I am reading this right? It appears two members from different states were planning on meeting and trading rifles.

I don't agree with the law but it is my understanding that this would have to go through an FFL to be legal.

Probably not the smartest thing to post about illegal activity in an open forum.

I talked to my local FFL and his advice was not to do it. He was from Kentucky and I am from Indiana. I believe this would have been a felony.
I did not respond to his texts after I talked to my FFL ( he thought could be a possible sting). I figured when I did not repond to are we still on, he would get the message.
I was under the impression that We could trade to adjoining states but that is incorrect.
If I can get banned for avoiding a felony so be it.
I usually try and avoid legal problems with the ATF.

So you found out it was illegal then decided to ignore the guy and let him waste time and money? Instead of being an adult and helping him learn also ? I say ban you that's very inconsiderate and it seems you couldnt care less.

I would have still made sure the other guy knew, so he didn't drive that far for nothing. Regardless, Aimless booted him, so I would think you are in the clear. He can't do much accusing, if he's not here.
Gatorhunt  [Moderator]

He's banned again, he's a retread banned member that I caught onto before I really got into the finer details of this deal so I missed the illegal crossing of state lines for a FTF part, you both should've known better.

In short this deal should have never been made to begin with (legal or not) because he wasn't even suppose to be on the site.

Although it still would've been nice of you to let the guy know instead of just ignoring him when you found out.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, communication can not only solve many problems it goes a heck of a long way in preventing most of them.

Just because the op was banned before is no reason to let this guy slide. He is either lieing or plan didn't care about another member here, regardless if he's banned or not he deserves atleast a -1 if not a ban

I agree he handled himself badly on this deal but he made a deal with a banned member that shouldn't have even been on the site, a deal that should have never happened in the first place. On top of that the deal itself was a setup to be an illegal cross state lines FTF transaction so how can I pressure someone to complete that deal?

So the offender is left with no options to make things right here, if the OP wasn't banned again, I'd say he at least needed to reimburse him for fuel but the OP is gone so.....

You are correct. He agreed to meet the guy (see the posted texts for evidence) and then bailed.

None of that should matter. tbone bailed on what could have been an honest trustworthy fellow in an epic fashion. Wasting time and money. Just because it was done to someone who had been banned in the past should not let him off the hook.

He didn't know the person he was dealing with was banned. So in essence he was willing to stand up a member of AR15 in what appeared to be good standing and let him waste 300 miles worth of gas (150 both ways) and the time it took to drive.

Someone like that should also be banned or at the very least suspended/given a negative feedback.

This is kind like when someone sells what the offender was trying to buy (and welched on) is sold to someone else before the feedback thread is concluded and they are given the opportunity to correct their mistake. tbone will never have the opportunity that's been given to every offender of welching for as long as I've been reading feedback threads so there really isn't much I can do other than make sure this thread is easily accessed when a search is done.

Honestly, I call bullshit on the excuse. Most likely he just decided it wasn't worth the effort to drive 150 miles for and just did nothing about it.

Either way, both are dick moves and I'd hate to see this guy get away with a simple slap on the wrist.

Ban them both. Regardless of the circumstances, weak communication by the buyer and a flat out flake on a FTF deal.

Flaking is bad, but a FTF flake rises to a different level.

I'm not trying to defend his actions, it was without a doubt a piss poor way to handle himself in that situation.

All I'm saying is this falls way outside of the norm for welching threads and the procedures we use to try and resolve them.

I'm going to consult with my more experienced colleagues on this one.

Like I said if you want to ban me for avoiding a Felony the have at it.
I sure as hell would not drive anywhere if the othe rparty stopped responding.
I have been here since 2000 with no problems untill this.

No one has a problem with you not completing the FTF deal that was set up, so you can stop playing the victim with the whole "ban me for avoiding a felony" bit.

They have a problem with you not having the stones to actually call the guy ahead of time to tell him what was up. Instead, you just didn't return his calls and ignored him. You had no intention of going through with the deal. You could've realized it was a crime to do a FTF interstate firearms deal, let the guy know, and then arranged to send it to an FFL. You did none of the above.

The fact that KYmedic was a previously banned member is a moot point. Of course the deal isn't going to happen now. That's also not the point. The issue is your failure to even try and salvage the deal.

Just wondering after looking through the archives.....you've sold a lot of weapons FTF and shipped. You seem pretty well versed in firearms transactions and the rules regarding them.
