Picked up a PTR from a wonderful member here on the EE. This is my first HK style gun.
I got it with OD furniture, but ordered wood furniture almost the same day I sent my money for the gun. The OD lasted less than 5 minutes once I got it home. My question is, what's the deal with the plastic buffer housing? Are they only in the plastic stocks? I saw a thread or two on other forums and the general consensus seemed to be that they do nothing other than support the stock and they're not needed. Is this true? On another note, I must say Bill Springfield does beautiful trigger work. I was not expecting a trigger nearly this nice.
Also, are there any write ups on the correct configurations for the G3?
