Is there such and animal out there? Id like to know if there is a HK or a clone that shoots .45?
I've seen .9mm & 40. It would only seem logical there would bea .45 some where out there!

Wasn't the UMP/UMC in .45?

Special Weapons made one a while ago, as well as potentially the Professional Arms MK5... if it ever gets released.

Yeah, they made an SW45 and an SW45X. They pop up from time to time.

Yup sure was. UMP LEO version UMC civ version. Awesome even suppressed. I got a chance to fire an AR.45 carbine, more control.

Bill Fleming built approx 15 MP45's and a couple of MP45K's.

I believe Pat at ORL built this MP45SD from a SW45

Ok, thats what I'm talking about! Are there any redily availble, or do I have to scourer the world looking in obscure places to find one of these little babies?

Just keep posting WTB ads. Eventually one will pop up. Remember, the SW guns have to have the mag fitted to the gun. Might not work from gun to gun. Also, some might not run at all. When I bought my K from ORL-LLC, we made sure it ran before he would sell it to me.

Get an mp5/10 its a factory demill gun and build it up. It will run just as well as any mp5, and its also got more power than a 45.

Please take the advertisement to IM or the EE.

These forums are not the place for it.

I have a SW45 which works great. It fires with Grease Gun Mags. It originally had some feed issues, but I took it to a gunsmith, he did something to the feed ramp, and the gun has operated FLAWLESSLY since. I wouldn't mind SBRing it, but with no Short SW45 barrels available, it would mean doing the old Hacksaw method, and since there are other guns at a higher priority to reregister (my pS90, for example), The SW45 will have to wait. The downside is that the barrel is too thin to thread, and no flange option is available. It does, however, accept all other MP5 acessories: Scope mounts, collapsable stock, etc.

I saw one, SW45, for sale this past weekend at Knob Creek. Don't remember who had it or the price tho.
So yes they're out there.

If I recall correctly, I got mine back in 2003 for $1300, with 12 Grease gun mags. I may have overpaid (maybe not), but it was a hard item to find, and I couldn't yet afford my UMP.

I've shot a real UMP in 45 and I much prefer my SW45K with sear. The MP5 platform is just much smoother and controlable. The only thing the UMP platform has going for it is factory magazines.

The Polymer construction gives the UMP a bit lighter design, not to mention how heavy those grease gun mags are. And the UMP barrel is flanged, giving the ability to attach a supressor.

Anything can have a suppressor attached. It may take some machining but it can be done!

But unfortunately, it does not have the delayed roller mechanism. Just standard blow back. You might as well have a Vulcan.

I'm talking about a "K" model here, I think the mag weighs more than the gun. I was just horribly underwhelmed by the UMP as well as the G36. Shoot a G36 and HK53 side by side and tell me which one you like. Be honest. I'm looking into having my SW45K threaded. A local manufacturer told me he would set me up with a can, I just need to make sure the barrel is thick enough and send it off to M60 Joe or someone who can thread it without pulling the barrel.

I went to 3 places and they each stated that they wouldn't thread it because it was too thin and didn't want the liability of destroying the barrel. So, if you find a place, be sure to let me know. I am not sure if I ever saw the K version of the SW45, so if you have pics, please post! I do have a 53, but never fired the G36 (although I really want a K or C model), so I can't compare. I don't know what you mean by "underwealming, but with the fully loaded 28 round mag, an Eotech 553, PVS-14, an AN/PEQ, and a M900, the UMP is plenty stout!

Send it to M60 Joe he can put a 3 lug on there with out removing the barrel! There you go. Several companies offer a 3 lug adaptor for there cans.

Now on to my problem.

I bought a .45 MP5. SW45. to be exact. I was suppose to buy another one but the gentleman never got back with me after I got back from the Knob Creek, but that is beside the point!

This gun came with 7 mags. I had to go test some .308 ammo yesterday, so figured I drag the new MP out with me and try it. I had already noticed before I left that all of the mags were a tad loose in the mag well. I thought I had better try a mag and see what would happen. Sure enough I let the bolt fly home and it stoped half way. So I tried another mag and another, all showed the same symptoms. Finally I found one mag that sorta worked. It was spuratic at best. So I started playing. I discovered if i pressed foward on the mag some of the other mags would work. Work means they would properly feed.

Any one else had this issue with one of these guns?

As long as I did a good job on modifying the GG mags, I haven't had a bit of trouble with my SW45

I'll try to get pics of my K posted for ya. As far as the UMP and G36 go, they just didn't shoot well. Like an AK or MAC or something. Choppy and harsh. Like a rivet gun vs an air hammer. My M14 is smoother and more controlable than a G36.
Silent, do you have the first run or an X series? There used to be a post with pictures and dimentions over on HWSNBN's board for the mods to the later X series guns. Mines an earlier one, so the mags are a little different. I can also verify Pat has an SD conversion from RDTS.

I'm not sure what I have I'll have to go look and see if there are any markings for an "X" series. If there isn't I take it that it will be a first run gun!
